Hi All,

I have got my machine up and running 10.5.7 and really happy with it, but now i want to watch my cable tv on it, record it when i need to as well as stream over the net. Any ideas as to which TV Tuner will work? I have done plenty of searching here, but there I can not find too much information at all.

Cheers,

Boombah

I'm using a couple of HDHomerun tuners with Elgato's EyeTV software. The HDHomerun connects via ethernet so it doesn't have the compatibility concerns of PCI cards. I use them with a router, but I think you can plug directly into the computer's ethernet port. I use primarily for recording and not for live viewing.

Of course it only works with unencrypted channels which are usually just the local over the air ones that the cable companies are required to transmit unencrypted. If you're interested, here's a website that tells you what channels work in your area – just type in your zip and then choose your cable company from the pop up on top – http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels_us

Take a look on http://www.eyetv.com/elgato/int/mainmenu/p...roduct3.en.html and see if there is long list of supported TV tuner cards.

I got my self Terratec Cinergy HTC USB XS HD, and it works great, analog TV, digital TV/radio, recording.

Greetings.
