Ouch
Well your going to need to be a bit more specific about "your machine" - is it an intel or ppc mac? PPC Macs need to have Flip4Mac codec installed to allow quicktime to play wmv files. Intel Macs cannot currently playback wmv because there is no intel version of flip4mac (same goes for hackintoshes) http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_tech.htm Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17990-video-viewing-browsers/#findComment-117042 Share on other sites
moseschrist
it's not entirly correct... you can play WMV using windows media player for mac. another thing is that you can install flip4mac from withing rossata (you need to set the installer to run from rossata) and then you will be able to install it. and in order to stream the movies you need to set safari to work from rossata. TokinDerrick
Well your going to need to be a bit more specific about "your machine" - is it an intel or ppc mac? actually it says "my macintel" in the post. and I'm not really talking about wmv, I've got flip4mac installed on my macintel through some crazy installation I found on the net. I think the files are actually like aspx or something, its just a streaming file that needs windows media player installed, and it is installed, but none of my browsers are noticing and I just get the puzzle piece showing up on the screen where the video would be telling me to "click here after installing" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17990-video-viewing-browsers/#findComment-117382 Share on other sites
BRP
You mean ASF or ASX? You might have a shot at fetching the file separately, but to be honest I'm taking a shot in the dark here (since I have no interest in Windows Media, ever). It might not be so simple, and I also haven't a clue about how browser plugins might work with "crazy installations".... MPlayer can play asf files and asx streams if the video isn't encoded with that blasted wmv9 codec that makes life so hard for non-Windows users, that I do know.
