ballboff
I've tried many distros to try and install this on my amd machine. I've tried iPC, iatKos, iDeneb, Lawless PPC, Leo4All and uPhuck. The only one I remotely get working is uphuck, which i'm able to install, but I think the only thing stopping me is the settings. I'm not sure what kernels or drivers to install. The others didn't even get to the install screen. I've got an AMD Sempron 2600 with 1.5 gig of ram and a Nvidia 6200 graphics card. It's a single core, and i've unplugged all the other peripherals cos I figured it would be easier to install these once the base system is installed. I wouldn't say I was a complete noob as I successfully installed ideneb on an intel machine a few months back, but AMD doesn't seem as straight forward. ballboff
Is Sempron 2600 SSE2 ? Is is yeah, didn't think of that. I'll try one of the sse2 kernels. Thinking about it, it's not a sse3 one like I've been trying. Need drivers now lol. Oh well, rome wasn't built in a day Right guys I'm so fed up of trying different versions of OSX86 now that I just give up! The only one I can get to boot into installer is uPhuck, so my final question is, can I upgrade this version to Leopard once it's installed cos none of the 10.5.6 or 10.5.7 releases i've got seem to boot into installer? So can I install leopard from within osx itself I mean? ballboff
Please please please! Can someone help me sort this out?! I need either the name of a leopard distro that will work with my setup or a way to update from my current 10.4.9 installation. I've tried every bloody distro there is and uphuck 10.4.9 is the only one that will even get to the install screen. I've tried every boot tag under the sun, and nothing! I mean if I could take whatever allows me to boot from uphuck and whack it on ideneb say, i'd be laughing. i've also tried like a later release of uphuck which is just simply iatkos v4 to v7 etc for leopard, they don't work either. chevy2410
You need to do more reading. All the info you need to update from 10.4.9 to 10.5.8 is in these forums. Trying to get OSX to work with AMD is asking for trouble. Don't rely on someone to give you a quick fix or how do I do this. AMD = trouble, especially old AMD. I've been searching the internet, google, and pirate bay the demon, everything. I'm still stuck! I've bee searching for weeks now, and while I don't have an endless amount of money i'm in no mood to upgrade my pc anytime soon, when I know osx will run like a dream on it with the right build. How can a 10.4.9 build work like a dream and no other will even get to the install screen? Seems like a step backwards to me. I'm sick of windows, and so when I found out you could install osx i jumped at the chance. People need to make their mind up, it either works on amd chip or it doesn't. ballboff
Well I'm absolutely astounded! I've actually managed to get windows xp and iatkos on the same machine and i'm able to boot them seperately from the main windows boot loader. Haven't quite figured out how to use the chameleon bootloader yet, but it works so I'm not {censored} it up. First thing I did was install osx on drive 2 not choosing a bootloader, then I installed xp on disk 1 and edit the boot.ini to include c:\chain0 = "OSX86 -iatkos 10.5.4", i had already copied the file chain0 from my usb stick to the root of the xp disk, c:\ in this case. I was then getting a chain booting error when booting osx, so I popped the osx install disc back in and installed only the darwin bootloader without efi patches. Rebooted and voila! Now I know this has probably been posted before, but to be honest I couldn't find a guide like this one. All the instructions I found told you to boot with -s or install acronis os selector, or run diskpart. and the fdisk setting partitions active thing nearly {censored}ed my system altogether. Looking back I reckon I could have just installed xp first, and then set up all the boot.ini details ready for my osx installation with the bootloader.
