Hello,

I tried to get Quartz Extreme supported on my Point of View GeForce 8400GS 512, but I couldn't yet.

Tried with:

Natit: No QE, only low resolution

NVinject 0.2.0: No QE

NVinject 0.2.1: No QE

NVinject 0.2.1 512MB VRAM: Black Screen

NVKush: No QE

NVdarwin 512 MB: QE supported, but the system crashes (kernel panic) in some apps. (chess, for example)

EFI studio: No QE

OSX86 tools: Error when i try to write the appleboot file

Uinstaller: No QE

9f23installer: No QE

My system:

iPC 10.5.6

Processor: Athlon 64x2 3800+

Mboard: MSI K9VGM-V

Need some help please.

This:

Modelo de chipset: nVidia GeForce 8400 GS

I have Athlon 64 3000+ on ASUS A8N5X mobo. Sure thing that I use Voodoo kernels from 9.2.0 to 9.7.0. I tried to get QE/CI on ASUS EN8400GS 256MB. And always fail with kernel panic either blue screen. Later I installed 10.5.2 with 9.2.0 kernel and get QE/CI working out of the box with NVinject kext that comes with DVD. But then my windows began to flickr when I move them.

So I gived up and bought Intel Dual Core 2.0 GHz with ASUS P5KPL AM/SE, installed iATKOS 7 and got the same videocard working out of the box with vanilla kernel.

So I guess you should try 10.5.2 Kalyway. Maybe you are going my way.

By the way. I tried many combinations of: iDeneb 10.5.6, iDeneb 10.5.7, iPC 10.5.6, iATKOS 5/7, Kalyway 10.5.2, Voodoo 9.2.0-9.7.0, XNU 9.4.0, NVinject, NVkush, NVdarwin, NVenabler, changing id in NVDAResman.kext GeForce.kext and NVDANV50Hal.kext, both DVI and VGA outputs.

Maybe, i've to find the right string and forget about injectors, but EFI studio, OSX86 tools (error when i try to write the appleboot) and Uinstaller are not working for me.

Is there any way to create your own string, i mean, find the right string for your system by other method?. Or modify the string of EFI studio to make it works?

Thanks for your help

You need to get GFXUtil. Then you have to find out where you videocard is physically placed.

Do it with

gfxutil -f display

This will return something like

DevicePath = PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

You should place DevicePath to nVidia.plist and then execute

gfxutil -i xml -o hex ./nVidia.plist ./nVidia.hex

This will take modified nVidia.plist from root directory and will create hex-string also in root directory. Then you take the string and place it before </dict> in com.apple.Boot.plist (can be found in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ but also can be stored in /Extra depending on distro)

<key>device-properties</key>
<string></string>

Also, in injectors NVCAP is very important. It shows what outputs you have and where they are placed - like DVI/VGA if DVI is closer to motherboard or VGA/DVI otherwise. Anyways, I've tried many of them with no luck. And I still think you should try videocard with vanill kernel. Let me know about your progress.

O_o I just notice that your Device ID is 0x0422 not 0x06e4. I do not see your posts here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83944 but it seems that they have found a method!

nVidia.plist.zip

Thank you very much for your help.

Right now, i've got no time for testing with the strings. By the moment i think i've got a solution that works for me:

KP is produced by Speech Recognition, so i've deactivated speech recognition in every app. No problem since that.

Working well with qe: imovie, chess, etc. Hope it lasts.
