jpipitone
I've installed OSx86 on my Pentium 4 machine, and it runs great, with the exception that sometimes the OS seems to hang with the spinning beach ball. It is intermittent - could there be an issue with the BIOS? Should I enable or disable hyperthreading on my processor? I have a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 motherboard, a Pentium 4 2.8ghz HT cpu, 1 GB of RAM, nVidia 128mb video card. fOZf8
You could try turning off all the energy saving options first, just to make sure its not putting anything to sleep? jpipitone
Within my bios? I highly doubt anything is going to sleep because these hang ups occur while I'm working....I can't bring up a force quit dialog, the entire machine just hangs. vinayp
I had the same problem too for a while (hung with a spinning beach ball), but haven't noticed it recently... can't figure out how to reproduce it or what caused it in the first place. jpipitone
Really? so what did you do differently? it just happens way too much for my comfort, even when running universal apps....i just can't justify using it as a primary machine, good thing my PowerBook is still up and at em. jpipitone
Things seem to be running smoothly now - I think it was the MacVidia drivers that I installed. When I did a fresh OSX install without the MacVidia drivers the hangups went away!
