ezilagel
My situation is I am a mac user. And want to REMAIN a mac user. But, I need a windows capable (for job) computer under $800. I have been reading this forum and trying to learn what is needed for me to get a system running both windows/linux/Mac and upgradable "unlike the macbooks/minis". I have no time to wait for the $$$Powermac replacements. It's been a long time since I have had a new computer and I would like to start this one out fairly nice. I essentially would like to have Linux (with wine) and Mac bootable. Do you think this settup would be good to work with? http://www.smksuperstore.com/catalog/viewitem.asp?ID=14650 Please, let me know of your experiences as well. I've read alot about sticking to intel products (duh) to get OSX86 working. I just need some first hand experience to let me know if I'm in the right direction.. Thanks all. iron
You can take a look at a Dell E510/5150 from the outlet. I just grabbed 1 for $350 w/ 2.8 Pentium D 820 Dual Core, 1GB RAM, 160 GB SATA, 7.1 chan audio and Intel GMA 950 graphics. This setup should work pretty much right out of the box according to the Wiki except for sound ktexts and vendor id forthe ethernet. I want to play with OSX until I can get some more cash to put a vid card in it, since it has a free 16X PCi-E slot. bluedragon1971
Well, I was trying to sell my system on eBay a while back for about $550, if you would be interested. Works 100% in OS X and is very upgradable.
