Johnny V
Take a look at the wiki: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph....6/Portables#HP Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/176036-need-help-with-starting-hackintosh-laptop/#findComment-1206537 Share on other sites
dognation
Thanks, I've already had a look at that particular wiki but was unable to find anythign specific for my laptop, maybe I should be more clear that I inted to use this as a platform to make iphone related apps and so would require a client perhaps updates easily. Cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/176036-need-help-with-starting-hackintosh-laptop/#findComment-1206572 Share on other sites
Johnny V
Look over the HP laptops and it's components on the wiki and see if your laptop has the same components and the success rate to hackintosh. Figure out which components work with a certain install and/or work around. Off the top of my head I remember reading where HP keyboards had many issues. I also have an HP Pavilion dv6000, and I can get the Kalyway to load and run properly, with a few fixes. I liked it so much, I had to get a retail disc. However, the retail disc is wearing thin on me, and I can't get it to install. I've had trouble with the video in Kalyway, and thinking it might be the same for the retail too. I hope this helps. dognation
Thanks, I have the special edition version (white) with HD-DVD, I wonder if this would affect anything, could you tell me what version you are running and if it is relatively easy to install/ upgrade and the patches maybe? Mellowmoods
Hey guys, I've been following this hackintosh revolution and I must say it is really interesting. However I am face with a problem which I am hoping you guys can help me with. Now I've downloaded iDeneb version 1.5 10.5.7, I've downloaded iATKOS v7 10.5.7 and iPC 10.5.6 all of which fail to run on my Laptop in one way or another. iDeneb and iATKOS both boot up from the DVD up to the point of the disk utility software but there is no hard drive to partition. As for iPC when I try to boot from the DVD I get a kernel panic soon after the apple logo appears. Is there anyway I can get this to run on my Laptop? Maybe editing some files or something? Please note there is no settings to change in the BIOS........... IDE, SATA, Enhance Etc. Dolina
Mine is the dv6000t version, it's black with the 1.3MP webcam and the remote control on the left side and the quick launch buttons on the top, illuminated in blue. I started with the Kalyway disc, just to see if I could get anything to work on it, I actually posted up a new thread, because I got stuck. I see that you're worried about losing files. My suggestion is to find a source of large external storage, like an external HDD. I've formatted so many times, nothing would be recoverable. I also do know, that WinXP will install sucessfully on it too, I couldn't take Vista anymore. However, my webcam never would work with XP or Kalyway. Hope it helped a bit. Hey guys, I've been following this hackintosh revolution and ... I used Kalyway for my dv6000. It works for both AMD and Intel. When installing, you get an opportunity to choose what drivers you want for your specific machine. I would suggest trying that, it has several different kernels and drivers and stuff to choose from. It may work, but you may have to reintstall several times to get the right combination of stuff for your computer. I am having problems with this also. Unfortunatly on the AMD dv6000s we can't change the sata settings in the bios. I even tried looking for an older/hacked bios that will let you change the settings but I am having no luck. Any clue on how to install this on a SATA drive without changing the bios? I guess as a last resort you could use an external hard drive. Anyway I was hoping do develop iphone apps and such progamming like and so the latest version of osx is important to me, is it easy to upgrade and are all features, with a bit of work easy to enable. Cheers I used Kalyway 10.5.2 and was successful, however any of my updates were not. I tried it all, MacUpdate, Downloading them and applying the hack to it, using a hacked update, installing the updates from another genuine mac... and I couldn't get it to work. I did find that iPC is very successful for my dv6000t. It's similar to the retail DVD, but is different in a way that there are specific drivers that you can install under customize when you install. I would suggest this, but I haven't tried updating to the latest version. I think I'm running 10.5.6. It's the closest I could get. Hope this helps. sapman
I ended up buying an external hard drive and got it to install and boot up. I used Iatkos 10.5.7. I have the dv6607nr. The only issue I am having is everything is running choppy. I think it is due to the hard drive being usb. I'm trying to copy everything from my external hard drive to my internal but so far have been unsucessful. I really want to get my audio to work fully. Right now sound works, but I want to use my laptop for djing and need to output 2 different sources of audio. Right now I can only do 1. Dolina
This is as far as I got (considering it's all I need). Dual Boot with Vista and OS X 10.5.6 Started with installing Vista Home Premium (native to the HP dv6000t) Followed a guide to install and partition (120GB HDD, split into 55.6, the rest for formatting) Used iPC for my base system. The retail wouldn't work, as it didn't load my video driver (or something) and I constantly got a blue screen, but not a waste of a licence I checked the boxes in Customize: iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System Drivers - Natit Intel - Intel GMA950 (I have the GMA 945, but it's working well). Other Audio Drivers - Conexant HiDef Audio (Partically works, but keep reading). Ethernet Drivers - Intel PRO100/VE Power Management - PowerManagement Package; Clamshell Display Support Fixes and Patches - Dual Boot Time Sync PS/2 Device Support - PS/2 Keyboard Fix DSDT Patches - Patch DSDT With using these settings, the OS recognizes most everything EXCEPT the Ricoh 5in1 Card Reader and my Eithernet port. The Ethernet port does light up and physically responds, but I can't get it to recognize it in "Network". I don't have anyway of testing the phone modem because I don't use it. VGA out will send on boot, but as soon as the desktop loads, it drops signal. S-Video is unknown, I can't find my cable :\. Firewire does work, it's a mini port and reads at 400 (normal). My wireless light will change from pink to blue depending on what I install. The USB ports disconnect upon sleep/wake. I have a bluetooth adapter, it works fine. (Synaptics)Trackpad works, but has no settings. F-Keys work like normal for light/dim screen, sleep, etc., as well as my QuickLaunch volume buttons (but not the "launch" button). What I installed to make things work better: No startup/shut down sounds: I used a program called "System Sound", it works now. Audio Out/SPDIF and Microphone: I installed VoodooHDA.kext By Thireus. Trackpad: I used ALPSGlide Pad Windfix and FFScroll, these together work okay. It's not great and I'm looking for something better. These enable two-finger scrolling, 360-scrolling but the tap to click is finicky and the program all together is weird and slow. All-in-all, this is STABLE . It could be better of course, but it's functional for my last semester of school. If all goes well, I'll shrink the Vista partition . I hope this helps someone, as to get this far took weeks. Sorry for not providing links, but I Googled everything and never thought to save links.
