tantan
i had several problems with this mainboard but with some expert help we got a very nice retail install running. this guide is as simplified as it can be, all fiddling is automated and i believe its near perfection. if you have the Gigabyte EX58 UD3R i guarantee a nice and easy install, if you got a simmilar board please post your experience here. what you need : - a system with osx running - Apple osx retail install dvd 10.5.7 (or an older dvd version & the latest combo update) - latest Chameleon installer - Uinstaller from attachment - same or simmilar hardware as me follow this steps : 1- format a sata HDD with diskutil using GUID 2- install Chameleon on this partition 3- install osx 10.5.7 to this HDD using Change Finder to make the OSInstall.mpkg file visible on the mounted dmg the path to OSInstall.mpkg is : Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages 4- run the custom Uinstaller with the following settings *choose hd to apply : your fresh installed osx partition *select mobo package : x58 *check : apply kext package *check : set boot timeout to 5sek *check : install custom kext from hdd now browse to x58Ui/Apply Custom Kext and select all orange colored files. if you use a nvidiagt9500 select the NVdarvin as well. now click install ... open diskutil and repair permissions on the new install. now you can remove the hdd from the mothermac and build it in the system where the ex58 ud3r is waiting for it. important bios settings : AHCI on both controllers the boot HDD connected to port0 of the Intel controller (light blue in my case) *sorry for the weird compression format, but this was the only way to reach 2mb. use stuffit to unpack x58Ui.dmg.gz

tantan
Thanks - Does your plugin driver package include support for JMicron controller and >2GB memory error ... ? i left the jmicron stuff alone in the new plugin since i only use the intel controller. if you need jmicron ports you can install them from the first plugin (x58) whats "more then 2gb mem error" ? never heard of this problem ! with this install method i always had more then 2gb installed and never had problems with the ammount of ram.
