ok, ok, i know, its a grey area but...

i have os x 10.5.6 (iDeneb) happily running on my acer 6920g (except wifi). if i buy a retail disc and license can i register my hackintosh? i obviously cannot install from the disk but do i just get a serial number from it? will there be any way to tell that i dont have a 'real' mac?

There are no serial numbers for an OS X retail disc it just asks you for your information then sends it to Apple on install. When Apple sees the hardware information if it collects it then yes they will know it is not a real Mac as you will most likely not have one of the processors installed that they use. BTW if you can get a boot132 disk that supports your machine then you can use that retail disc for installation.

@MacUser2525: thanks for quick reply.

ok, boot132 means absolutely nothing me :D

so i googled, and read lots, and now it means slightly more than nothing me :wacko:

my lappy is running fine with os x, vista 64, win 7 and xp all booting nice. i think i will save my money and buy a 'real' mac sometime

The boot132 is just a method of tricking the install disc into installing onto non-Apple hardware by using another boot disc to load the settings it would be looking for before you start the OS X installer.
