I've got a friend who is attempting to install Mac OS X on his PC and he is having a little trouble so any help thay you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

He is using the Maxxus 10.4.4/5 Installation DVD, and he reports problems upon entering setup. The whole setup application loads, but becomes unresponsive when he tries to select the language. He sais that he's using a mouse and keyboard through USB and here is a list of his specs:

He lives in Mexico and you live in Canada? How on earth did you to ever become friends?

I had issues during the actual installation process (while installing) and it turned out that my DVD drive wasn't totally compatible. That may be the case here. I had to change my DVD drive. Have read updating the firmware also work but have never tried that.

Good luck :D

hi,

I also having the same problem. I had ecs nforce 3a mobo and the mouse becomes unresponsive when reaching the choose language screen. i can move the cursor but i can't click the continue button. only tried the ps2 mouse+keyboard though, haven't tried the usb mouse. i'm using mac os tiger 10.4.6 jas patch.

could this problem caused by the dvd rom?

You probably tried this, but I found that I had to click twice on the continue button to get it to continue.

Yeah, i noticed that too. I had loading errors near the end of my installation and to resolve it had to change my dvd drive. But reciently i tryed to install Jas 10.4.6 and it would complete installation but then restart (which it shouldn't) and nothing was there. XP only. I finally dowloaded a MyZar version which works fine.

So maybe try a different version while you look for an answer to this one.

Just read the specs of your friends machine. It seems he's using a K8M800 chipset, which is VIA. I'm guessing here, but if people are reporting that the Intel 845/865/915/945 chipsets work best, I'd assume the K8M800 support in MAC OSX x86 is minimal.

I dont think the VIA IGP is supported at all. When he boots from the DVD, what is the display adaptor information?
