phoenix_iii
Plex looks awesome. I just downloaded the newest 0.81 (I believe that's the version). Sound does not work. MP3s 'play' but there is no sound. I did find that the +/- on the keyboard controls the dB (volume), but there is no output. I do get sound via iTunes. Thoughts? Is there somewhere to specify an output device? I haven't found it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/174373-plex-081-no-sound/ Share on other sites

For me, it uses the LINE OUT sound for most things, and then it uses my Stereo/regular output for others... Strange. That may be difficult to deal with if/when I make a HTPC. But it is using line out, and I cannot change it in options. There was one other option I think that may help, but under sound options there are some tunables! I have AC3 and DTS passthrough working perfectly on my Plex Hackintosh no problems. phoenix_iii
Sounds like it might be a kext problem. I have AC3 and DTS passthrough working perfectly on my Plex Hackintosh no problems. Apparently in Sound in System Config I have four different outputs. It was using another one... =) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/174373-plex-081-no-sound/#findComment-1199062 Share on other sites

What osx version are you on? I'm having a problem where only the first movie you play in plex passes ac3/dts. If you stop the first movie and play it again... no passthru. The issue is described here: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php?showtopic=8618 I've experienced the issue in 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 vlc and xbmc work fine, but I like plex better and would rather use that. farukp
Hi. Was anyone able to solve this issue? I have plex on my Hacky with the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Board. Vlc working fine with everything, but in plex, no sound at all when playing movies, youtube, etc.... friendlyed
Im not sure if this will help but , i just got mine working on my msi-gd65 mobo . My OS version is 10.6.2. Go into "Change your preferences" then "System" then "Audio" and change your audio output , try each one to see if you get any audio. If you are still not getting any sound, check the sound in the system preferences maybe . This was all i did to get mine working.
