bigboss
Hmm.. i dont think the 12 inch will be able to take a T2600 (maybe not even a T2500) like the mbp since it is smaller and the chip generates quite a bit of heat (its fairly efficient though). also, im not sure whether the graphics are comparable to the mbps (the mbp has an a x1600) and it looks like it doesnt mention the VGA adapter so im going to assume gma 950 which gets killed against the x1600. so overall, i dont think this can take on an mbp but i do know 2 laptops that are comparable to the mbp : Asus V7J and Samsung X60. edit: http://www.rkcomputer.net/store/index.php/.../5/prevstart/0/ yup gma 950 and guess what? you can upgrade the laptop to a T2600.. not bad.. u1m2
I just wonder if ethernet, sound and wireless will work... Proc, graphics, display, etc... should naturally be problem-free. On another note, it also has a magnesium chassis which should be sturdy and heat efficient basd on what I read about the previous model S260. I am sure there is a hack for everything else : ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17360-msi-s260-a-viable-macbook-alternative/#findComment-112305 Share on other sites

Dudemeister
I own a S260, which is the previous generation (Sonoma). It's based on the i915GME and has a Pentium M 740. Most everything works OK. GMA 900 graphics supports CI and QE, Audio works (Realtek AC'97), MSI Wireless (RALINK) works with drivers from RALINK.COM.TW, LAN works, DVD+/-RW works (native support) What doesn't work: Media reader (SD, MMC, MS) appears to be rocgnized, but can't mount any media Battery display not working Power management (unknown) Dual boot (XP/OSx) works OK.
