Hmm.. i dont think the 12 inch will be able to take a T2600 (maybe not even a T2500) like the mbp since it is smaller and the chip generates quite a bit of heat (its fairly efficient though). also, im not sure whether the graphics are comparable to the mbps (the mbp has an a x1600) and it looks like it doesnt mention the VGA adapter so im going to assume gma 950 which gets killed against the x1600. so overall, i dont think this can take on an mbp but i do know 2 laptops that are comparable to the mbp : Asus V7J and Samsung X60.

yup gma 950 and guess what? you can upgrade the laptop to a T2600.. not bad..

I just wonder if ethernet, sound and wireless will work... Proc, graphics, display, etc... should naturally be problem-free. On another note, it also has a magnesium chassis which should be sturdy and heat efficient basd on what I read about the previous model S260.

actually i beg to differ, everything looks pretty spot on, assuming you do some tweaking, i would get the 8 cell battery.

the CPU, no brainer

the chipset inside the MPB

the GPU inside the mac mini (that means you get widescreen)

the sound, AppleAzaila kext or maybe AppleHDA

usb, card reader, express card, bluetooth, check check check check.

the only real problem maybe the ACPI controls, like brightness, you may also have a problem with your headphone/mic jack, but that is almost startard these days in osx86

also the wireless is probably not going to work, but you can buy a card from IBM that will, they sell the atheros card that Apple uses.

I am sure there is a hack for everything else : )

so that's a big old WOOOT for MSI S262, my cousin was thinking about getting a 12" and I suggested this. although he may have no intentions of osx86, he will come around once I nag him enough...

oh one more thing, who makes the ethernet control chipset, that could be a source of problems.

I own a S260, which is the previous generation (Sonoma). It's based on the i915GME and has a Pentium M 740. Most everything works OK.

GMA 900 graphics supports CI and QE, Audio works (Realtek AC'97), MSI Wireless (RALINK) works with drivers from RALINK.COM.TW, LAN works, DVD+/-RW works (native support)

What doesn't work:

Media reader (SD, MMC, MS) appears to be rocgnized, but can't mount any media

Battery display not working

Power management (unknown)

Dual boot (XP/OSx) works OK.
