Hi!

I am having problems with my 10.5.7 retail installation. It gives kernel panics in random situations, for example when i was adding 40Gb of music to itunes from ntfs partition in other hard drive. I thought that maybe it is ntfs-3g's fault, but disabling it didn't help. I tried searching various logfiles, but couldn't found any clues. Perhaps i wasn't looking at right place? Where should I look for kernel panic logfiles? I have a feeling that this might have something to do with harddrives(and ntfs), but I am quite a noob with these :)

My configuration is following:

Hard Disk 1 (SATA): 3 partitions, 1st one contains chameleon 2.0RC (which I use for booting both hackintosh and winxp), 2nd contains winxp, and third one is only storage (ntfs).

Hard Disk 2 (SATA): Leopard

Hard Disk 3 (ATA): NTFS storage

My motherboard is MSI P35 NEO-Fi.

Any ideas?

The last line here is last one before the panic. Looks like a problem with the disk to me? Perhaps I should try fixing it with scandisk, if there are some errors with the filesystem. Any ideas what are these "CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35" errors about?

Try this kext here to get rid of your UUID error 35 messages.

As for your kernel panics, try looking under "All Messages" in Console for the error (*Tip* Under Sender[PID] tab, look for kernel messages).

If you're comfortable with it, you can also try manually installing Voodoo kernel and temporarily booting with it at startup, and when/if the kernel panic happens, it'll be overlaid with the error on your screen.

Thanks for that kext, those UUID-errors are now gone ;). The crashes still exist, and console's "All Messages" doesn't contain anything at all :s. I installed voodoo kernel, but now it won't crash anymore. Guess that I should be happy with this, but I still prefer the original vanilla kernel.Any more suggestions?

EDIT: Well, the panic came after all :) Here's a picture:post-304231-1246826090_thumb.jpg

Is there any helpful information?

Didn't work, it still crashed. The crash report mentions "AppleVIAATA" so could this have something to do with appleviaata.kext inside IOATAFamily.kext? I have installed this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...944&st=240# kext to get Ide working, could that be causing problems?

Your probably right, Are there no other ATA solutions for your board?

Sorry I can't help.

##EDIT##

This is your IDE controler -

Ultra DMA 66/100/133 IDE controller integrated in Marvell® 88SE6111

JMicronATA wont help you.

Okay. I have not found any other solutions.

Is there any way of "disabling" a device under os x, so that it won't even be noticed by os x? I could do that, as my PATA-drive is linux-formatted, and I wouldn't need it under os x anyway. Will just deleting AppleVIAATA.kext do the trick (or would it just mess up my system more :))?

I'd replace the whole IOATAFamily.kext with stock (if that's what you where using before.)

I'm sure you can disable ATA in BIOS or just buy another SATA HDD!
