You can try to install NVDAResman.kext from IPC 10.5.6 installation (IPC DVD)

Giorgio

You can try to install NVDAResman.kext from IPC 10.5.6 installation (IPC DVD)

Giorgio

ok tried that inserted IPC 10.5.6 used pacifist to install the NVDAResman.kext

rebooted the system and it froze on the boot... used the -V option on boot and no errors it just froze on me tried with -X to get to safe mode samething just froze on me (right now i am restoring using timemachine)

i am going to try an experiment and see if i can get IPC 10.5.6 installed with out the GFX then install the Patched AMD combo update 10.5.7 that i have then the GFX and few apps that crash it like aperture adium and see if that makes a working result. I would ideally like not have to do a complete reinstall, but use the image i have on the Timemachine disk and then update and repair that issue if i can do you have any other ideas on the fix for this one

thanks

:-)

right then tried the experiment and got the dump again here is the what the dump said this is the same one i always get now after the 10.5.7 update i hope this helps a bit

I'm having the exact same problem after updating to 10.5.7, but with different hardware. What graphics card are you using? Have you managed to come to any stable results? I've been trying to find an answer for months! Like you said, anything that uses a certain graphics call, it's just panicking. I've had trouble with Adium, Candybar, Pixelmator, Coda, Mail Badger, EventBox, Bento, and a few more. I'm using a PNY GeForce 6200, any ideas?

I too have a PNY 6200 and the same problem. :) I tryed iDeneb and iATKOS with Natit/NVKush and the voodoo kernel. I would stay with 10.5.6 but as you know some sw needs 10.5.7

got the combo update and patched with zep's tool... ran updated applied the seatbelt from 10.5.5 because i have kernel 9.5 you need the 10.5.6 one if you have kernel 9.6 to find out which one you have fire up terminal then type in uname -r and you will get the number there...

installed the correct seatbelt as you do rebooted and about TIME...

every thing worked again PHEW!!!! just in time i needed to do some work

Timski,

Good work! Can you go into detail on the steps you took to update? Also, what is zep's tool?

Did this fix your graphics problems completely?? I don't want to update and have to reinstall again :gun:

Thanks!

ok here is steps for you

this is for AMD

1) go to this URL and get the combo download http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_..._8_Combo_Update

2)go and get the Zephyroth utilities and install that http://rapidshare.com/files/11220233/AMD-...Update.zip.html

3) once you have the combo update open the .dmg

4) install and launch zeps tool (amd patcher) choose a folder to save the files in i just created one on the desktop

5) drag the install package from the combo dmg to the amd patcher window

6) click on the arrow icon on the left to log a window will appear so that you can see what is going on then click patch.. (this takes a while get yourself a cuppa)

7) whilst that is going get osx86tools from here http://code.google.com/p/osx86tools/ install that

8) once that is installed and launched click on back up extensions... save it to desktop in a folder

9) once the combo has finished patching you will have a new installer package in the folder you chose it to save to.. run the patched 10.5.8 installer

now depending on the distro you have you may need to reinstall ISOUSBFamily.kext and seatbelt.kext you need 10.5.5 for voodoo 9.5 and 10.5.6 for voodoo 9.6 ( open terminal type in uname -r you will get a number that's the version of your kernel) get them from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=148566 and then use the EFI installer to add your graphics again....

Bluetooth you need to search for bluetooth file exchange using spotlight copy that to your dock as it will not start on its own...

intell

you can update from system updates just back up your extensions 1st always a good idea

also you may need to read some of the info out there before you dive in but most people are reporting a few issues

i hope that helps ya

tim
