Takuro
Apple has released version 7.1 of its Quicktime Player. Although not specifically mentioned in their change log, I noticed one major improvement: It solved the problem where, while playing Quicktime media containing certain codecs, sometimes the image appeared off-center and grey with bands of green. This a problem experienced with some people who have ATi Radeons with QE enabled, for whatever reason. In Quicktime 7.1, this problem no longer occurs! I have no idea if they intentionally wanted to fix this problem, but either way I'm happy. They might've fixed it in the process of working out some other bugs. You need to consider that they don't need to support certain video cards like a Radeon 9600 because... well... they aren't present in any current Intel Macs. So maybe this was an accidental fix. Unfortunately, mp4 and mpeg distortion (as described earlier) strill occurs in iTunes. I suppose iTunes plays files independently of Quicktime. If so, maybe the next build of iTunes will also fix this problem. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17250-quicktime-71-released/ Share on other sites

Takuro
Ok I played a MPG file from my Meteora CD, and it had the color problems with greyscale and green color banding and stuff. But you also have to consider that its an old media format. Quicktime isn't supposed to handle that stuff so much. After exporting to any Quicktime-support filed (MPEG4, MP4, MOV, etc) it played perfectly. So I'd still consider this a huge improvement.
