arcticemerald
Hi everyone. I recently installed the iPC 10.5.6 Universal Final PPF5 onto a homemade computer and have gotten almost everything to work just like normal. One of my problems is the sound. I have a Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme sound card and can't seem to find the driver for it anywhere. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/171312-creative-sb-x-fi-xtreme/ Share on other sites
Gravian
There are no drivers, sorry. I'm not sure if it's still because no one has the specs necessary, or if no one has attempted to make something tangible out of the open source info they released. Either way, there are no drivers for it at this time and Creative really needs to stop being a pain in the rear. Gravian
HOLD THE PHONE!! I did a little Googling and found that people have managed to get the X-Fi working with Voodoo HDA, and to my surprise, it actually works! You gotta boot with the -f flag, but aside from that it's as simple as installing the Kext! I'm so happy I can barely type straight! Gravian
This thread here has some people who managed to get their X-Fi's working. Yeah, I saw that but I don't speak French. I can make out the part where he says it works with the Voodoo Kext even if it's not listed anywhere. I got mine working by installing VodooHDA, adding a few flags to my com.apple.Boot.plist and disabling my onboard audio, right now I only have sound out, but it's better than the nothing or crappy onboard audio I had before. I'm still tinkering around trying to get the mic to work, but I doubt it'll work till the VoodooHDA team releases a new version. Edit: I wonder if I should start a new thread asking X-Fi users to try the VoodooHDA kext and post their results? It would be nice to know exactly what works on what models and if there are any catches with hardware. Gidi
Hi, VoodooHDA detects mine, but digital output is unusable. Music stops when selecting it from the audio preference panel. Cheers!
