technofox
Hi All, I bought my own copy of OS X 10.5.6 and I have spent several hours researching posts, guides, etc here at insanelymac and osx86project, but even though I have found several posts in regards to ACPI, I am still unable to install OS X on my pc. PC Specs: Pentium 820D 2.8ghz 4GB of Ram 300GB SATA HD IDE DVD recorder 945 chipset x1600pro graphics adapter I have been using the all-in-one slimbuild ISO and selecting Munky's Pre-core image for my box. Here are the steps that I have had to do without the "waiting for root" error, but with the ACPI error: 1. Boot off of Munky's image 2. Press F8 and eject all-in-one disc 3. Insert OSX disc and pressed enter 4. Press F8 to go back to boot: command prompt 5. Reinsert all-in-one disc and type the following in: rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo -v rd=disk2s0 platform=x86pc I have also tried: rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo -v -s -x rd=disk2s0 rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo -v -legacy rd=disk2s0 6. Pressed enter and then it goes through a bunch of lines with ACPI kernel panic error to finish it. With the hours I have spent searching here and the net, and I am at a loss for where to go from here with wasting more hours of my time that I don't have to waste researching. I have no way to enable or disable ACPI, I have tried the platform=x86pc, I have tried several of the posted suggestions other than asking miss cleo or consulting a local shaman to try to get this to work. So is there a work-around for this? or another way to get OSX to install? Thanks for any help that any of you can provide. technofox
Bump. No takers yet? If I can get past the ACPI issue, I will very likely be able to get OS X to install on my box. The other part of the error message is that it is due to an incompatible driver. Is there anyway to disable or prevent the ktext that causes this issue? Or is there any work around for this? Dr. Hurt
Are you using a patched DSDT. If so, remove it because faulty DSDT will cause an ACPI KP. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/171137-acpi-kernel-panic/#findComment-1180134 Share on other sites
