tortorici
Once a computer is built, can't you hook the hard drive up to a MBP and use Disc Utility to format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Once that is done, can't you just boot the install disc as if it were any other mac? Why don't you figure out what hardware you have (ie: motherboard model/chipset, video card, processor etc.,) and search those in the forum? TheKing
What sets a mac built hard drive apart from any other? Not only the hard drive. The whole hardware is very different from that one on the PC. I thought most of the stuff in a Mac was 3rd party. Is it the motherboard and the hard drive? Matthew W
I thought most of the stuff in a Mac was 3rd party. Is it the motherboard and the hard drive? Macs are limited only to certain hardware. So many drivers have not been written for other hardware. Once it starts its boot up... the operating system checks the compatibility of the components you have like your Graphic card / Audio chipset / Ethernet controller etc.... If that all checks out your set. If not...then welcome to the forum ur gonna be here a while! tortorici
why do they need to make these things illegal, they don't hurt anyone. they sell software, i've got hardware, they make enough money off their laptops and iphones anyways Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170902-do-you-need-osx86-to-run-os-x-on-any-hardware/#findComment-1178610 Share on other sites
Marclh
Apple makes their money from their hardware, not their operating system, that is just a bonus feature from buying an Apple product. This is why putting OS X on a PC is illegal.
