Once a computer is built, can't you hook the hard drive up to a MBP and use Disc Utility to format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Once that is done, can't you just boot the install disc as if it were any other mac?

On mac hardware, yes.

Why don't you figure out what hardware you have (ie: motherboard model/chipset, video card, processor etc.,) and search those in the forum?

Yes and No.

As i Understand it. things like efix and chameleon allow you to boot up that disk.

Once it starts its boot up... the operating system checks the compatibility of the components you have like your Graphic card / Audio chipset / Ethernet controller etc....

If that all checks out your set. If not...then welcome to the forum ur gonna be here a while!

why do they need to make these things illegal, they don't hurt anyone. they sell software, i've got hardware, they make enough money off their laptops and iphones anyways

Common misconception.
