mabix
Hi guys I've experimented, but by no means an expert when it comes to OSX86 and Hackintosh. But, before I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 i think I remember reading that this card (Atheros AR5006EG) was incompatible.. however, after installing OS X the card worked natively... I have a Sony Laptop (Core 2 2.0GHz not centrino, 1.5GB RAM, Intel 4500 graphics, Marvel Yukon 88E8036 and Atheros AR5006EG) and it seems to be the perfect hackintosh. Im typing this off my wireless now.. If anyone has troubles with this card, ask for whatever files you need from my configuration. Attached is a screenshot from lspci (I ran the command lspci -nn), System profiler and the airport connection up top Cheers Maverick ar5006eg.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170543-atheros-ar5006eg-working/ Share on other sites

mabix
I´m not sure but seem that exist two or three models that share the same Dev id: AR5007EG with 168c:001c Not works (at least without KisMac) AR5006EG with 168c:001c Some models works native as the yours AR5006EG with 168c:001c Not works (at least without KisMac) in dmesg output: start [/sourceCache/AirPortDriverAtheros5424/AirPortDriverAtheros5424-235.9.3/src/driver/AtherosController.cpp:480] loaded unsuccessfully http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61260 Yeah that's the difference I guess. when I ran sudo dmesg, I got the following: maverick-laptop:~ maverick$ sudo dmesg Password: ffer exists GFX0: match category IOFramebuffer exists display: family specific matching fails GFX0: match category IOFramebuffer exists display: family specific matching fails ALCinject: Starting. ALCinject: Setting built-in=<data not shown> ALCinject: Setting layout-id=<data not shown> ath_attach: devid 0x1c ath_descdma_setup: tx dd_desc_paddr = 0x5051000, length 0x46500(288000) bytes ath_descdma_setup: beacon dd_desc_paddr = 0x3c91000, length 0x90(144) bytes mac 10.0 phy 6.1 radio 10.2 dsmos: Initializing... dsmos: Hook and decryption contexts set! dsmos: Starting... AirPort_Athr5424ab: Ethernet address 00:16:cf:aa:0d:05 display: Not usable So whatever that means, I dont know.. Surely if the cards are the same, it would only require the editing of the plist file to make it work?? waihung
i've the same card as yours, 168c:001c but under windows it is labelled as ar5007eg. it is detected as airport extreme card, it wont find any networks even if i used kismac. any solution? i do realise that even though its the same vendor and device id, but under system profiler, the vendor id is the same but not the device id. ArcLP
this is messed up... 5006 works but not 5007? what's the difference? also where is AirPortDriverAtheros5424 location? i bet i could edit it to make it work because all you would most likely need is to put Ath_attach for 0x01c like for the IO80211kext version 2.1.2 for the kismac kext/guide. then after that works maybe it WILL completely work OR give a different error leading up to a complete fix? hopefully? System Profiler just doesn't see my Atheros. I tryied everything I found ... but nothing.
