Philbert
I just got this started today, so I know very little about it. Is it normal that you cannot install apps or something? I wasn't sure so I tried to install Firefox anyway. Right away it crashed with a bunch of text asking me to send a photo of the screen to the Voodoo kernal devs. Is that normal? somewhere in the text is said "kernal panic" is that the same type of kernal panic I read mentioned on this forum? Philbert
Really? None of you have tried installing apps on your OSx86 machine? I just tried another one and the same thing happened, so it's not Firefox. Philbert
This is the error. I don't know who to send it to though. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169739-installing-apps/#findComment-1173246 Share on other sites
Gujal
You are running voodoo 9.5.0 kernel but your seatbelt.kext is a different version. If it is the case, it will crash when you try to mount a dmg file Just install 9.5.0 seatbelt.kext and you are good to go Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169739-installing-apps/#findComment-1173782 Share on other sites
Philbert
Hmm, I don't see that listed in iPC, the only "seatbelt" I see says 10.5.5 in the Fixes and Patches section. So if I find a 9.5.0 version of that how do I get it installed? Thanks. Of course I don't have to be using Voodoo. If I just not check any kernel off will it run 10.5.6 "vanilla"? Gujal
10.5.5 is 9.5.0, go figure! So the version int the fixes and patches section is the correct one Also you can run vanilla only if your CPU is Intel Core2 or above Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169739-installing-apps/#findComment-1174772 Share on other sites
Philbert
Thanks for the info. I figured I would try it anyway and of course it worked. I also thought I would switch to the 9.4 StageXNU Universal kernel instead of the Voodoo one. The description sounded like I would have the best chances with that one. I actually don't see any difference so I guess it didn't matter that much.
