xxtoni
Greetings from Bosnia So i will try to explain the situation as best as i can and really really hope that you can help me... I have a Dell Precision 690 Specs: Xeon Quad Core 2.33 Nvidia Quadro-FX 3500 SCSI disk I dont know the motherboard... Anyway so i burned the iso on a dvd (at 16x) and tried to boot it,everything is just fine until i get to the partition-ing,there i cant see my HDD,at first i wondered if it maybe was because its SCSI and i need to download another distro or a patch (downloading another distro would be a bit of a problem because i just get 10GB bandwidth).I looked all over google some people suggested to change the boot settings which i didnt do by now... Another thing, will i have compatibility issues with this conf. and leo, becuse its important to have quad cores and full video card working because i mostly use this machine for Photoshop,Illustrator,Flash... So if you can tell me everything i need to know about this so i can get it to work... __________________________________________________ _______________ Acer aspire 5100 So the other problem would be my somewhat old laptop, which i would like to turn into a alike-macbook The specs are: AMD Turion 64 mobile (2.2 Ghz) Ati Radeon Xpress 1100 80GB disk (i belive its SATA,woudent really be normal if it were SCSI) 2GB RAM Atheros AR5007EG wireless card So here the problem is a bit different i cant even start leopard, when i start diagnostic i get: IOPCCard Bridge:start failed fix enetflowcontrol-Flow Control is disabled Still Waiting for root device Somewhere i read that i should recouple some cables but thats a bit difficult since its a laptop... again woudent really be good if i have to download another distro becuse of my limit (vi va la Bosnia) I tryed: rd=disk0s1 -v platform x86pc -v platform=APCI -v -x -v -f -v Thats about all i tryed by now, would be really nice if you could help me to get Leopard to work If you need any more information please ask here or send a mail at xxtoni_@hotmail.com or add me on msn Sorry for my lousy English, not my mother tongue Greetings from the Balkans Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168821-ideneb-14dell-precision-690-and-acer-aspire-5100/ Share on other sites

The only way to use leopard is 10.5.2 kalliway. First start the computer with DVD JAS 1.4.8 (tiger) and begin stallation. Desmount the FAT and remout using Disk Utilities. Reboot the machine with the Kaliway 10.5.2 DVD and install without any video driver ou ATA controler. Sorry my english! xxtoni
I am researching a lot these past days, and really cant find a solution for my problem anywhere...i am pretty sure that its because of the SCSI on the Dell...the question is can i somehow use IDE and would it help downloading another distro or is it all the same when it comes to SCSI...Come on people there are over 300k people here,i am sure someone has a answer for me ! bibbidy
Hello xxtoni, I also have a Dell 690 with NVidia 8800gt working full with audio and network. First, your hard drive needs to be connected to "SATA 2", the primary master according to the Dell. The HDD0-HDD3 are NOT working I am still working on that, but I have sucessfully had 2 drives working on SATA2 (master) and SATA0 (slave) ports. I used IPC 10.5.6 with only the following options checked AFTER using disk utility to set up my hard disk with 5 partitions; first being Mac Extended, journaled and MBR, not GUID so I can boot Mac OSX Leo or Win XP etc... Check these only during CUSTOM setup: 9.5.0 Voodoo kernel, SMBIOS Resolver, the PS/2 keyboard fix (if you're NOT using a USB keyboard and mouse), and whatever applications you want. This will at least get your system up and running, showing as a big MacBook Pro with proper FSB and memory settings detected OTB. I could not find a working kext for my stock NVidia Quadro FX 1300, so I bought a NVidia 8800GT and searched the forums to get it working (NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB (G92) GFX-EFI Tutorial. (This is version 2.0 of the tutorial, updated on 5/31/08...) Same with built in audio using AppleHDAPatcher. And network using AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext. I'm still working on internal FireWire, but to get around it for now and get my Digidesign MBox 2 Pro working, I put an old Canopus AceDVIO PCI card in one of the longer white PCI slots, NOT the little PCI slot (not recognized OTB). I will include an email address at the end for anyone else who needs help with their Dell Precision 690 Workstation, finding kext or the "How To's". So far, Pro Tools 8 installed and works great! Still waiting for FCP to DL... I want to thank agra, cyclonefr, macgirl, netkas, karaakeha1, А.Д., and zephyroth for their original files, guides, and knowledge. Without them, this miracle would not have been possible. Much luv 2 OSX86!!! --bibbidy (brian) theboogiebarn@yahoo.com Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168821-ideneb-14dell-precision-690-and-acer-aspire-5100/#findComment-1179652 Share on other sites
bibbidy
Reposted by bibbidy for Pep... Hi fellows!!! Some good news!!! I just made my Dell precision 690 recognize the disk attached to the LSI 1068 SAS controller!!!! With OSX86 Tools - "View PCI Device", i found that the id string was [1000:0054]. I edited the /System/Library/Extensions/AppleLSIFusionMPT.kext/Contents/Info.plist. Just go to /System/Library/Extensions/AppleLSIFusionMPT.kext and right click "show contents" will take you to the info.plist. I edited the file with the trial version of PlistEdit Pro. BEFORE <key>AppleLSIFusionSAS</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleLSIFusionMPT</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>AppleLSIFusionSAS</string> <key>IONameMatch</key> <array> <string>LSILogic,sas</string> <string>pci1000,50</string> <string>pci1000,56</string> <string>pci1000,58</string> </array> AFTER <key>AppleLSIFusionSAS</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleLSIFusionMPT</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>AppleLSIFusionSAS</string> <key>IONameMatch</key> <array> <string>LSILogic,sas</string> <string>pci1000,50</string> <string>pci1000,54</string> <string>pci1000,56</string> <string>pci1000,58</string> </array> Then be sure to run ALL sets of system maintenance tasks in OSX86 Tools ("repair permissions", "clear extensions cache" etc.). After that, all partitions belonging to the SAS disk showed on my desktop. I don't know if they are bootable or not. I don't know if a RAID will be recognized, as i only have 1 drive. Hope it works for you!!!!! Please let me know... Good luck. Pep. pathensley
Bibbidy, you saved me! I've been trying to install iAtkos 1.6.3 on my Dell 490 for months (on & off) & couldn't figure out how to see my sata drives (I have the Dell SAS 5/LSI SATA card like yours) - so I hex edited the iAtkos iso, & changed one digit of one of the existing hardware id's in the Info.plist you described (changed from 50 to 54), burned the modified iso & was able to install! Thanks!! (sorry to resurrect the post... but needed to share) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168821-ideneb-14dell-precision-690-and-acer-aspire-5100/#findComment-1670383 Share on other sites
