no no. if you boot from a usb peripheral iousbfamily is a part but not all!

it's important the ioahcifamily and appleacpiplatform

both are required to SEE the hard disk!

AHCI is serial ATA interface and no relation with USB.

Don't confuse nobs.

@All

Do overwrite IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBEHCI.kext .

AppleUSBEHCI.kext in My archive is with path IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/

but Don't overwrite IOUSBFamily.kext direct.

Hey guys,

I've been following this hackintosh revolution and I must say it is really interesting. However I am face with a problem which I am hoping you guys can help me with. Now I've downloaded iDeneb version 1.5 10.5.7, I've downloaded iATKOS v7 10.5.7 and iPC 10.5.6 all of which fail to run on my Laptop in one way or another. iDeneb and iATKOS both boot up from the DVD up to the point of the disk utility software but there is no hard drive to partition. As for iPC when I try to boot from the DVD I get a kernel panic soon after the apple logo appears. Is there anyway I can get this to run on my Laptop? Maybe editing some files or something?

Please note there is no settings to change in the BIOS........... IDE, SATA, Enhance Etc.

Chameleon2 based boot ;-p

That maybe wonderful one.

But I don't know what is the merit of Chameleon2 ?

This second step loader can boot from grub or other ordinary boot loaders?

I imagine to install OSX into internal disk.

Now I wonder what is the better way to work both WinXP and OSX on VAIO P.

I think Chameleon is special boot loader for booting only OSX.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi ryuu123,

I'd just like to say thanks to you for the PCiFix.kext Fantastic work!

Umm.. I have a Msi X320 (beautiful Macbook air lookalike) and have now got graphics going on it with Kalyway10.5.2.. I'm using the alpha 1 PCIFix.kext and chameleon v1.0.11 but can't get the native 1366x768 and can only get 1024x768.. here is the PCIFix messages.. could you give me a PCIFix.ext for this netbook or let me know how i can hex edit your alpha 1 PCIFix.kext to point to the correct addresses for the GMA500 in the x320. Any help is much appreciated. I have tried the "Graphics Mode" options and the PCIFix alpha 0, 1 and the one you sent to ugokind and the GMA500FB.kext that some else posted.. all still gives 1024x768..

PCIFix messages

Regarding the wifi, I've replace with the Broadcom BCM4322. Native AirPort Extreme support! :D:D:D

This is the only half-size Broadcom wifi module I can find.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

For more details please take a look of this website (it's in Japanese, is there any Japanese member help to translate? :P:P:P )

Many thanks for this great thread. I want to install Mac OS X on the Sony Vaio P.

Is it possible to do it keeping the Windows already installed on the machine?

Is it possible a dual boot (Mac or Windows) from the same internal disk?

Which is the best way to do it now?

Thaks again.

@ Soysta

PCIFix is working correctly.

To get the over 1024x768 resolution, u need three.

1.PCIFix

2.Chameleon2 rc2 or my boot loader.

3."Graphics Mode"="AAAAxYYYY" boot option

thx

@Asama

GREAT DREAM!!

BTW,

I dreamed the original atheros wifi card working on sonw leopard 10a380. :P

but I got nightmere with 10a394 or abobe.

when the sonw leopard and its source code is out,

I'll upload patched files.

Thanks ryuu123.. I have all three and still no go unfortunately.. using Chameleon-2.0-RC2-r640. Using boot that came with Chameleon rc2 and also tried the boot file you posted for Chameleon v2 rc1. I checked that the boot.plist has "Graphics Mode"="1366x768x32@60" in both the Extra folder and the one in the actual Config folder. I also tried it manually typing "Graphics Mode"="1366x768x32@60" on the boot screen for Chameleon. I'm using the latest PCIFix.kext which u posted for ugokind.

I will keep tinkering with it tho. Thanks again.

Hello all,

I have tried for weeks to install this fella with no joy :(

I have a MAC with the original DVD 10.5.6 and can install it all onto a USB hard drive. I have installed all the kexts as mentioned but have little joy in booting. It complains about NTFS drive and stalls :/

A few questions:

1) How do I know what Kernel I have?

2) Should I now upgrade to 10.5.8?

3) What version of boot and chameleon should I now be using?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Alan Tingey.

Hey guys,

I'm looking forward to buy a Vaio VGN-P11Z or a MacBook (I have already a iMac).

I have a few questions about the Vaio VGN-P11Z:

- Does Mac OS X works great on the Vaio?

- I want to use Pixelmator for simple photo editing. Work it?

- Have anyone tried to install OS X on a SD Card and to put it into the SD Card slot? It could be easier to transport.

- What do you think about a guide with pictures to download? It would be nice for some one like me and other Member...

- Does iChat works with the Webcam?

I look forward to hearing from you.

greatings Shinichi

I don't mean to bump an old post, but I just got a VGN-P530H and im really itching to put Snow Leopard on it. Can anyone point me in the direction of an ebay listing or site that actually sells the half size broadcom cards? i looked all over and couldn't find one and i even looked at the chinese site that someone already mentioned earlier in the tread. Im quite experienced in the hack scene and have been doing it for the past 4 or 5 years. (I'm only 19. : D)

Anyways, thanks everyone for all your input. I hope i can get this thing working soon!

Hi,

If you intended to install Snow, use these files.

http://www.mediafire.com/?nnlxa5dntmw

Original Atheros WIFI card is working well with Snow.

so you don't need to get broadcom one.

but abobe archive is bit deprecated.

Please replace /boot to Chameleon RC3 and edit com.apple.Boot.plist below.

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>"Legacy Logo"=Yes EthernetBuiltIn=Yes "Graphics Mode"=1600x768x32 arch=x86</string>

one more thing.

you need to recompile VoodooHDA.

please refer http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/issues/detail?id=52

ryuu123, thank you for your work.

Could tell, do I need some other files than in your last archive?

Because using an USB-stick installation of Snow i get this screen:

it seems none of my files is exist.

1. Does USB-stick:/Extra/Extensions.mkext exist?

2. using chameleon 2 rc 3?

Extract my archie and copy all files to USB-stick's root.

Thanks for all the help ryuu123!

I hate to be a complete n00b, but could you please email me at ctjameson@gmail.com and explain a little bit more along the lines of what im going to have to do to get this going. Also, my macbook is acting funny with any mac os x install disc (macbook restore disc, retail leo disc, snow leo disc), so i really just need a little help. Just shoot me an email when you get some free time with a simple step by step for snow leo.

Thanks so much guys. I love the insanelymac community.

Thank you for your great work ryuu!!

Installing SL was much easier than Leopard.

1. Being a CDN Version, I've noticed that keyboard mapping got changed to Japanese Layout. Would you be able to help us how to recondition? (Has VOODOO PS2 Keyboard changed?)

2. Thx for the HDA Patch, I'll compile it as soon as I get back from work.

I've installed to non-GUID partition in order to save the recovery partition. Using rest of the partition for SL (no win, who needs em?)

Griff, Make a bootable USB using Disk Utility. (Do not make seperate partitions. I've created my Leopard USB installation by seperating into two partitions, where first part contain only the Chameleon. I failed this attempt and had to use single partition.)

Install Chameleon manually. (Tried RC2 installer but did not work). README file has good instructions, run the command from the folder where Chameleon binaries are stored.

Open Ryuu's zip and copy over entire content. Use terminal to overwrite Boot file. Files under System folder can be placed by mouse drag. (add the file onto the existing System folder).

Copy over modified OSInstall.mpkg. Netkas has proper instructions. (It's not just one file to overwrite).

Update: I've FAILed keyboard.
