Hello folks,

I have a Toshiba M200 tablet PC running on the Intel 855PM chipset.

I was wondering if anyone could help me / give me suggestions to get my PCMCIA slot working. I need it to work because my onboard wireless nic (at this point in time) is not working and there has not been a driver released for it.

more details on the PCMCIA slot itself and it's capabilities:

1 Type II, PCMCIA R2.01, PC Card16, CardBus PC Card slot

The options for the different opetating modes are accessable in the BIOS. All which I have tried, result in nothing when I put in a Linksys Wireless NIC (802.11b) card in the PCMCIA slot. I have confirmed the card works in windows, and the link lights briefly light up during bootup so I know the card is functional (and turn off as soon as OS X starts to boot. I also might add that I tried this PCMCIA card on a Powerbook and it recognised it as well).

At this point in time, it would appear to me as if this was a non-functional PCMCIA slot (driver?). Would anyone have any clue how I could get this slot working? I'd appreciate it very much since having no network connections in OS X on this laptop is extremely fustrating... :poster_oops:

Fire,

Heres an update on the situation:

When I do a verbose boot, I do not see

IOPCCard info: Intel PCIC probe: not found.

but... I do see...

IOPCCardBridge::start failed

hehe unfortunately I've disabled the "enable graphics" option in the com.apple.boot.plist so I do not have a GUI anymore (I have no idea what to do!? hehe). I was able to look for the line you mentioned though...

Kinda like taking one step forward and then falling backwards lol...

I found a previous version of IOPCIFamily.kext at This Link. I also followed the instructions there to replace the 10.4.6 version with the version that came on the 10.4.4 DVD.

So far, during bootup i do not see any PCMCIA related startup errors and when I do insert my PCMCIA card, the link lights come on and there is an Icon displayed in the top menu bar. Unfortunately, at this time, when I plug in the WPC11 wireless nic (from linksys) It says something along the lines of "unknown vendor" and "unknown device" below it.

I tried putting the PCMCIA card in my Powerbook and it actually does say the name and model of the NIC, although it does not function.

So I'm getting somewhere!!

Any other suggestions on what I may have to tweak? I heard people HAVE got the WPC11 working somehow...

Does anyone have any ideas? As I've said replacing the 10.4.6 IOPCIFamily.kext with the 10.4.4 version and it has ENABLED the PCMCIA slot - IE I put a PCMCIA card in and it recognises that there is a card inserted (although it says unknown for vendor and model type). Would I possibly need to replace some other .kext files that might be holding me back?

I feel like I am getting close! :D Anyone? suggestions are highly appreciated :)

Did you have the Linksys drivers installed?
