Hi ppl. this guide is for those who have iPC 10.5.6 on their Acer Aspire One and want's to update to 10.5.7, first of:

download iDeneb 10.5.7 upgrade kit at demonoid, and here's what your going to do.

1.go to System/Library/Extensions and backup all kext, bundle, plugin with GMA950 named,as well as AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer and save it somewhere you can remember other than your system volume.

2.install the iDeneb kit you just downloaded "iDeneb.MacOSx86UpdCombo10.5.7".

3.press F8 on boot an then type "voodoo" without the quotes.Normally, it will restart twice and do not forget to type "voodoo" for the second restart.

4.once your in the desktop, open the kit again and launch "iDeneb.Tool.rev1". Under kernel check the voodoo 9.5.0 and install. Before you restart, delete or move to trash AppleIntelGMA950,AppleIntelGMA950GA,AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver,AppleIntelGMA950VAD

iver,AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer on your system/library/extensions folder.and then restart your system.

5.on successful boot, install the kext you have just backup earlier using kext helper b7 and restart.

Your Done!

check your graphic properties and see if Quartz Extreme is supported, and if it does then its perfect......

What I did for my acer aspire 3693 is the following:

  • backup your extension folder with OSX86Tools
  • Update using the standard "software update"
  • On reboot I used -v -f yet I got stuck on the blue screen just before it shows the desktop
  • I inserted the iPC dvd and used the terminal from there to delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
  • rebooted again with -v -f and got to the desktop.
  • Next I rebooted using -x so I would have a working keyboard to type in the root password while using OSX86Tools to restore my backed up kext files.
  • Did Repair diskpermissions and touch extensions folder using OSX86Tools and then rebooted into normal mode (no boot options)
  • Everything worked again out of the box, this is:
    • Keyboard & Touchpad
    • Wireless and 'wired' NIC
    • Sound

Hope this helps somebody

Hi,

Your step 4 creates the exact same mach_kernel as the iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 kernel -- why is this? If you do a "uname -a" on both an updated 10.5.7 system done this way with this iDeneb 10.5.7 upgrade and a real MacOSX system you get different versions, i.e

from a real MacBook Pro you get ---

Darwin macbook-w 9.7.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.7.0: Tue Mar 31 22:52:17 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.12.14~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

from an updated Acer Aspire One that was built as a iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 install and then upgraded with the iDeneb 10.5.7 upgrade you get ---

Darwin abook 9.5.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.5.0: Sat Dec 6 19:39:54 IST 2008; Voodoo; Release 1.0 :root:xnu-1228.7.58/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386

and I sure would think that a 9.7.0 system is a lot different from a 9.5.0 system.

So the ultimate question is what is the difference in a Mac OS X 10.5.7 system with a 9.5.0 kernel and a 9.7.0 kernel ??? And where does the "About this Mac" get the info that it thinks is a 10.5.7 system when the kernel is at 9.5.0 instead of 9.7.0 ???

Thanks...

-Bob

ps -- Thanks for all these great instructions on doing the upgrade - between yours and diablonet's iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 install guide I have enjoyed testing MacOSX on a Acer Aspire One so far. much much kudos to you both.

Another item to remove from the 10.5.7 update is the seatbelt.kext and replace if from the backed up copy that you saved before starting the upgrade (use the OSx86Tools is a handy way to do this). This prevents panic crashes when trying to mount disk images (DMG files). For more information see http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1128325

Okay, so I'm kind of a perfectionist and I just wanted

to post my instructions which I feel are pretty clear

and fail-safe.

1. Go to System/Library/Extensions and backup:

AppleIntelGMA950

AppleIntelGMA950GA

AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver

AppleIntelGMA950VADriver

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer

2. Install iDeneb.Combo.Upgrade.KIT.1057.dmg update

3. Press f8 on boot and type voodoo then enter. It will restart

so press f8 and type voodoo again.

4. Open upgrade kit again and launch iDeneb.Tool.rev1

Under kernel, check voodoo 9.5.0

Install, can take up to 20 minutes

Go to System/Library/Extensions and delete/backup:

AppleIntelGMA950

AppleIntelGMA950GA

AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver

AppleIntelGMA950VADriver

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer

***Reboot

5. Reinstall kexts backed up from step 1

***Reboot

Good luck!!
