mikone
Hey, I successfully installed iPC OSX86 10.5.6 on my computer but have some trouble to get the graphics card working appropriately. It is listed in the HCL of the OSX86 wiki and the drivers are explicitly listed in the iPC OSX86 install menu. When installing OSX86 with those drivers, I'm not able to get into the GUI of the OS, as it hangs up near this line: localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd[xx]: starting If I remove the Natit, AGPGart and all ATI extensions (in single user mode) it works like a charm (besides the fact that I'm not able to get beyond 1280x1024). I spent quite some time in the forums to find a way for making this graphics card work (find the "right" drivers). I've done the following things: - Install the drivers from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107526 - Install the drivers mentioned in this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=151744# (post #8) - A lot of stuff which was way to stupid to list it right here... In any case, the best result was a black screen with a vertical blue line near the right edge of the display (1px in width). There are some things, which might be different from other users who got it working: - I've got an exotic mainboard which has both, AGP and PCIe. - The graphics card requires a special driver distributed by asus (in windows) because the ATI drivers do not recognize it as an ATI card. - Though the device id of the card is 9596, it is identifed as "unknown card" during natit initialization. Here is a little log snippet from a boot procedure with the drivers installed "correctly" (at least i think so...): May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Starting. May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: device-id: 0x9596 May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @0,display-link-component-bits=<data not shown> May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @1,display-link-component-bits=<data not shown> May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @0,compatible=ATY,Alopias May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @1,name=ATY,Alopias May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @0,display-connect-flags=<data not shown> May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @0,name=ATY,Alopias May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @1,compatible=ATY,Alopias May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @0,connector-type=<data not shown> May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @1,device_type=display May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @0,device_type=display May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @1,display-connect-flags=<data not shown> May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting device_type=ATY,AlopiasParent May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting ATY,VRAM,MemSize=0x00000200 May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting ATY,FrameBufferOffset=0x00000200 May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting @1,connector-type=<data not shown> May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: Natit: Setting model=ATI unknown card May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: AGP: Coherence support: no May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: AGP: GART is 32 bit capable May 18 06:02:11 mikones-mac-pro kernel[0]: AGP: Found an AGP 3.0 compliant device. In the HCL of the OSX86 wiki, this card is listed as compatible with the remark 'NVInject 0.2.1 512MB'. Is there anything I'm missing? As it seems to me, NVInject is required for nVidia cards only. My machine has the following setup: - asrock alivedual-esata2 - asus ah3650 silent (agp) - amd athlon x2 - 2gb ddr2 ram I'd be thankful if anyone could point me into the right direction! PROTOCOL X™
I've got exactly the same problem here.. I've too the ASUS AH3650 Silent AGP card.. None of the drivers seem to work with this card. I've too that device ID [0x9596].. Drivers for these device ID even don't work.. Netkas his new universal driver seems to detect the card as a ATI 3600, but no CI/QE.. I'm tired of trying over and over.. I think I'm gonna bring this card back to the store for an other one. Think this one is gonna be a NVIDIA.. That cards are a lot easier to be installed.. genesirius
got same sh*t here with the same card. i'll try to update the bios of the card soon. it works actually somehow, if you delete X2000 kexts from extensions, but leave natit, agpgart and atyinit there. at least, i've got the correct device in the system profiler, it also shows AGP Slot-1 and quartzgl is supported, but it's still too slowand VRAM Size 256 is wrong. strange...i thought if it has the same id number (9596), it should work correctly...i an gonna boot windows and try to update bios rom.
