Heyy everyone,

i read up about how people using ICH9R's and Intel cpu's with vanilla kernels were able to update from Software update fine and so i considered i may aswell do it myself.

I downloaded the update and it begun installing before it crashed and gave me the power sign of death thing in the middle of my screen. Horrorfied i rebooted in verbose mode to see why.. and to my expectations it had loaded the Apple Intel CPU Power Management kext causing my system to crash.

I had removed this kext and rebooted to a working system.. though the only thing that had been updated was my kernel and system.kext as far as i know. My problem is i need to finish the update but cant as my system believes it is 10.5.7. I Downloaded the delta updater (452mb) from apples website and tried to reinstall to no avail as it was complaining about checksum errors.

If i used pacifist to manually extract it and then over write the old files with the new ones with admin priviledges would it fix my dilema?

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, definitely use Pacifist. I have an AMD system with Voodoo 9.5.0, so I figured I could just update regularly, like I did with 10.5.6, but NOPE! Complete and total failure. However, when I reinstalled, and used Pacifist, it worked like a charm. Just make sure to back up and DON'T overwrite your graphics and sound kext's.
