Hi all,

I see many success stories for ASUS P5KPL-CM install even the motherboard is in HCL, but I can't even get pass the installation screen.

Just about all installation distro including boot321+retail 10.5.6 get stuck in a different part in the boot process.

Is there anything I need to modify in the bios to get the install going or any option I need to use after F8?

I have ASUS P5KPL-CM latest bios update

500GB seagate HDD

4GB RAM

Intel E5300 CPU dual-core

USB keyboard/mouse

Thanks,

it was a breeze to install with the retail copy with snow leopard. I put required kexts onto http://kexts.com too. at least the ones which weren't up there.

What?! How did you manage to boot into the retail SL. I have 10.5.x now running perfect! But I can't install SL on another HDD. I have followed many tutorials from google, but all fail after disk starts to load. any advice??

I followed this guide: http://prasys.co.cc/2009/08/installing-sno...pard-for-osx86/

but rather than using his kexts which he suggests for download, I use this installer to install them all (it installs very nicely):

http://osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/

iow, just use that installer to be able to copy the retail onto your USB drive. Once that's done, use the installer to install chameleon/pc efi onto the USB

once you've booted from the USB, use the installer to install chameleon/pc efi onto your HDD.

Then I used this kext to get the network card running: http://www.kexts.com/view/111-attansicl1ee...ow_leopard.html

also boot with verbose mode to see what any errors are.

was it a breeze to install on asus p5kpl-cm board? i can't even get it to install. do you have a how-to posted somewhere that i can take a look? I used, ipc 10.5.6, ideneb 10.5.6, iATKOS v7 and boot-321+retail Mac OS, all stop at different points before going to gui install.

why yes! That's the very board this thread is about, double yes :)

I basically just gave you the howto in my previous post. There wasn't much to it. If you use the retail copy of snow leopard (10.6) I can walk you through it. The IPC install, you're on your own. I got it working with 10.5.6 as well, but I recommend purchasing snow.

What are the different points it stops at? Are you booting with -v so you know for sure it's different points? (hit tab in the bootloader and select -v for boot options)

I didn't do anything special with my bios settings. try irc://irc.osx86.hu/hackint0sh

as I said, I can walk you through it with SL.

ok sure if you don't mind.

I installed Leopard on a few Gigabyte motherboards with no problem, only this asus is giving me lots of trouble.

I had to add a video card to be able to install Leopard 10.5.7 and update it to 10.5.8. The video card I picked is RHD3450, it's not bad for the price and also available in local store in low-profile.

I am trying to install SL from retail DVD, here is what I did:

- Split a 40gb external disk into two 20gb.

- installed myHack_Installer_1.0_RC4.1_r55.mpkg on partition 1 (OSX86)

- installed Chameleon v2 rc3

- made sure the partitions are GUID and ignore perm is unchecked.

- boot to my OSX86 on the USB disk where I installed Chameleon with -32 -v -x at the boot prompt

problem is, it will only boots as far as a white screen with mouse pointer anything I do make the mouse pointer a spinning wheel and that is it. What important step am I missing here?

thanks,

I don't know what -x is, nor why you're booting in 32-bit mode?

Did you try the irc channel I mentioned?

-x is for safe boot mode and -32 is to eliminate any problem that I may have with 64-bit boot. Of course when things are working I wont use any of those. I had to use -x to get Leopard boot and remove all ATI drivers.

I did join the irc but it is very crowded and everyone talking, I don't think anyone wants to hear my SL install problem. I will try it later though.

It seem I almost succeeded....just a little more time I have to spend.

That channel is where I got all my info. Also there's another channel called 'snowleopard' in the same network.

Mine was so easy. I'm not sure what your problem is. during -v it boots past all the verbose stuff, and then goes into the X mode, but hangs there, you say?

Btw, if you used myHack installer, why did you install chameleon? That's redundant and would actually overwrite the better pc_efi change to the boot file.

yes, that's right.

I started trying anything, but now I have myHack only, problem still there.

So you had no problem even with the on-board graphics card? I think even my new ATI card is giving me trouble. I had to do 'mv ATI* hold/' to get the X come up in Leopard.

I don't know of anyone who has the on-board graphics working. If you read this thread, I respond to a question saying that I am using a separate graphics card.

I have this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814187037

That is a great card but it just wont fit in my low-profile box. Maybe I just change the box so I can put a more compatible graphics card like yours.

I also have problem with screen saver (except computer name and flare), iDVD wont play any DVD either. I think that is also caused by the graphics card.
