hananiaschan
goto bios and turn off USB Legacy and all on that page it worked for me on BIOSTAR motherboard so i dont know. Well, I tried that, but I loose all function of the usb keyboard... so I can't type anything. Actually, now I lost all function to my keyboard/ mouse. Of course with no keyboard or mouse, I can't go back to the bios menu! Let alone use my computer for anything! I officially have a big black brick... How can I reset the bios??? Never mind!!! sorry, i fixed it after a little reading of the motherboards manual... but yeah, still no success booting up to the installation menu... I guess is Ubuntu/ Vista set up just kidding, they'll do fine, just that sometimes the macbook seems under power... if any one has other advice... Please I'll be waiting, thanks. N3o21
I've same problem on Asus P5KPL-CM :-( I think it's caused by graphic card GMA 3100 (NOT X3100!!!) which is not supported. But I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work using some VESA driver, or anything similar. Does OS X support something like this? I've tried everithing - flash OS X compatible BIOS, installing from SATA drive or USB flash, changing BIOS settings... Excepting PCIE graphic card. But I don't want to change my graphic card. So it isn't solution anyway... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166024-cant-install-on-asus-p5kpl-cm/#findComment-1154587 Share on other sites

Right now Im' in the process of trying to install via retail dvd. I'll keep posted. use ps2? Nothing new, same thing. Just stuck! Looks like this project is going to be a lot of fun... aptperson
I have that motherboard and am typing this from safari right now. I used iPC 10.5.6 Universal and have had no problems installing. I do have a 8400 GS, so I have nothing to offer in the way of support for the onboard gfx, but would recommend that you try iPC. Good luck. N3o21
Yes... That's correct. You're using PCI-E graphic card. Not onboard. In the fact... All people who uses "external" graphic card have no problems with OS X on the same board (or same series). I've tried a lot of "distributions" - iPC 10.5.6 final, iPC X-DL OSX86 10.5.6, iAtkos, iDeneb 1.4, retail DVD... So I'm 99% sure that the only problem is onboard graphics. I hope that 10.5.7 or 10.6 releases will bring support for GMA 3100 onboard graphic card. GMA 3100 in unfortunatelly completely different from GMA X3100 :-( I think there is no another solution yet. I used disk utilities, but now i noticed many don't recommend using it. Rather to use a burning soft like toast or nero. Also did you press F8 then '-v' to get the installer?i'll try burn it again using nero. I'll keep up to date my progress. Thanks to all the quick reply!!! Thank you! aptperson
I Burnt it using disk utilities, but that was on my friends iMac. I have been a Lunix man for a while so I can only recommend k3b if you are using that platform and always burn at the lowest possible speed. If that does not work for you and you really want this you should hasten you purchase of the Radeon HD 4650, as by the sound of what N3o21 said this is where your problem lies and I do remember reading similar things when I was reaching this project. As for the installation process I just let it run its course, no special boot flags at all. How did you get internet? Lan or Wireless (or even USB adapter)? Second, How about sound?? Which driver, is it 'Azalia' they have under settings in the installation? Thanks! aptperson
For internet I am about 99% sure that I used this driver: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...0851&st=540, which makes the inbuit Lan work at about the same speed as Ubuntu seems to. You would think that the 'Azalia' driver is the one, but that left me with no sound. Again I am pretty sure that I used this driver: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=161638, which is the voodooHDA driver. If I remember correctly I did select the 'Azalia' driver when installing, well the one that has P5K next to it, so you might want to do this to as I am not user whether the Voodoo driver will work on its own. The sound is not perfect, but it works for my purposes atm. I would also recomend upgrading to Chamelion 2.0-rc1 once your install is working, as this fixed my shutdown/restart problems, but not sleep. Also, I upgraded to 10.5.7 via software update last night and had no problems whatsoever! It was the on board graphics card that stop the installation. after install a radeon hd 3450 (I know, no support for this yet Jump the gun to quick!) i can always take it back and exchange it for a cheap nvidia card (really thinking about doing this seriously)... But I had a question for you. How did you get the internet working?? I don't know which driver is for our Atheros Lan. Please let me know soon. I also tried to use an usb wireless adapter, it doesn't read it at all. (even ubuntu reads it instantly, no drivers needed) I prefer to connect via wireless adapter, but if that doesn't work... I'll plug it in via lan. But again, I don't know how to get that working. Any advice?? aptperson
Congratulations. With the lan try the Attansic L1 Ethernet 10.5.6 driver on the page I linked to above, post 549 has a link to it. This worked for me (at least I am pretty sure that this is the one, I should keep better records but my masters project keeps getting in the way). I would go the cheep Nvidia card, as Apple seems to be using their cards more and more. So the support should be better in the future. Just research what card first, make sure someone else has it working to save a lot of headache! Wow! thanks a lot! But I had already found that driver in another link... I just searched the name you gave me! Still credit goes to you, for helping me out. Yeah, I am also typing from Safari!!! So far so good! I even updated to 10.5.7 with out any kext... strange right? But not perfect. I can`t update safari to the beta 4. At first it said I needed 10.5.7 update. Now that I`m there, is asking for 10.5.6 or higher!!! That doesn`t make any sense. Oh well, at least there is still faithful Firefox!!
