kmare
would it be possible to buy a macbook logic board and build a pc from it? A core 2 duo board goes for $200 or so on ebay -- what other parts would be needed to throw one into a case and build a functional hack? pirloui
Funny you mention that now, I just thought of getting a iBook / Powerbook Motherboard for a server project yesterday. From what I know, you need the Mobo, including DC to DC board; and DC in board. They are sometimes included. Just look out for it. There is Sata for the internal HD so you could connect the HD there, or do it through FireWire (better support for sleep disk than USB) Keep us updated; I'll do the same if I get mine rolling. BTW, it won't really be a Hackintosh, it would be a real one, hacked Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164901-hackintosh-from-macbook-logic-board/#findComment-1148319 Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
You need to figure out a way to convert it's display output to regular DVI, or to connect a monitor to it... You would just need the Apple mini dvi to dvi adapter I believe.. Embio
I suppose once you have power taken care of everything else will fall into place... might be worth picking up a macbook that someone has trashed the display on :-) Also, an apple motherboard with a PC case is known as a 'Frankenmac' - just a technicality! kmare
I think its possible, but probably not worth it given the current state of hacks. You would need about $150 in extras to get up and running (ac adapter, mini dvi adapter, heatsinks, ribbon cables sata/keyboard, memory etc). Check out the following: http://wolphbite.com/blog/?p=62 Maybe a project for the winter?
