Toadman
OK, I got a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (754) + MSI Via K8T800 chipset+ 512 mb ram+ Geforce 5200 + 120Gb SATA HD on Via SATA. People say the DVD should automatically recognize my SATA HD, but the disk manager once it boot doesn´t. Tried everything people say in forum, but just can´t get it to install... Could somebody please tell me what to do, I really want to see how Mac OS X looks on my box (ps: don´t tell me to buy MAC, no MAC in my country...) I noticed there is no extensions folder in the newest DVD... Is this normal or is bad download? Thanks and sorry for bad english Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16487-not-recognize-my-sata-hd-jas-1046-install-dvd-help/ Share on other sites

Quasimidi
Yap, same problem here. 10.4.6 DVD patched with JaS PPF. My conf is AMD64(Clawhammer), Asus K8V (VIA K8T800 chipset), Maxtor 120GB Sata drive, Radeon 9600, Primary Master IDE: DVD-RW, Secondary Master IDE: DVD-ROM. SATA is on VIA SATA. I did partitioned my HD as: 1. Windows XP (Primary - NTFS - active) 2. Mac OSX (Primary- HFS+ - AF type) 3. Data partition (Extended - NTFS) 4. Data partition 2 (Extended - NTFS) Native and VMWARE installation goes just fine (Selected the AMD Base and SSE2 option), but I can't boot neither using LILO, GRUB, OSX DVD, Acronis OS Selector. I always get the "Still waiting for root device" or "Chain error" message. I think the VIA SATA support is not 100% yet, I did some research on this forum, and got no working solution for this. Experienced (and working) help would be greatly appreciated, please! belgrano
.....3. Data partition (Extended - NTFS) 4. Data partition 2 (Extended - NTFS) .... Use only primary partitions, not logical. I remember when I used logical partitions that I had a similar issue. (unable to boot although the instalation was OK). Quasimidi
After digging on many osx boards, forums, etc found out, the only way to make it work, to use an IDE HD. No working VIA SATA solution provided yet....
