  1. Thanks for the post. Now I know I can give up and wait for better drivers (Although it seems to be an issue with no solution for quite a while, I don´t think it wil ever be fixed...). Thanks Toadman
  2. Since this obviously has nothing to do with this ATI board alone, I have opened a new topic for this here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=212831 Thanks Toadman
  3. Hello. Didn´t know quite where to put this, so please move topic if necessary. I have posted this problem previously on this topic: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1427730 I Have the following two rigs: Core 2 Duo E6300 5GB OCZ DDR2 800 P5B Deluxe Wifi Powercolor HD4870 512mb DDR5 Seagate 1TB HD AOC 22" 16:10 monitor Vanilla EFI boot 10.6.2, Cham RC4, Graphicsenabler=yes and Core Quad i5 4GB Generic DDR3 1333 GA-P55M-UD2 Saphire HD4670 1GB DDR3 Seagate 1TB HD LG 19" 5:4 Monitor L1952H Vanilla EFI boot 10.6.2, Cham pre-RC5 compiled from source (modded ati.c file to Motmot for VGA, other framebuffer mods discussed in posted topic), Graphicsenabler=yes I get weird input lag and video stuterring with the LG 19" Flatron display (L1952H) that I don´t get with my other AOC monitor and with my 1080p LED LG TV. It is present in any OSX computer with any ATI board. It also persists in dual monitor and affects the other monitor as well, even if it actually functioned fine alone. I´ve noticed that the video stutering is ciclical and regular (once every 5,4 seconds), affects all resolutions and screen frequencies, in programs, games, 2d or 3d, even in calculous programs, not graphics card dependent, limited to this display only. It has no such problems with D-sub (VGA/RGB...), problem does not exist in Windows or Linux/BSD. I´m thinking this has something to do with Framebuffer or OSX ATI drivers and refresh rate/frequency post errors/incompatibility, but I can´t be sure. It might explain the discrepancies i noticed in my previous post in the cited topic. Appears to be present in every ATI framebuffer, I don´t have any NVIDIA for tests. I have no idea of how to fix this, I´ve found a nice article here, though, that might explain the issue, but, then again, might not. http://www.behardware.com/articles/632-1/l...o-crts-yes.html If anyone has ever had this problem and have fixed it or not, please post. I have no intention on buying another LCD display just to adress this issue. Untill this is resolved, I am using it with D-sub (VGA/RGB...) Thanks in advance, if I find a solution first, I will post. Toadman
  4. OK, I said I´d post if I got any issues... This rig is actually intended for my father, I have another rig with an HD4870 working with QE and CI with dual display and Mirroring, which I got with RC4 and Graphicsenabler=Yes in apple.boot.plist in EFI (Motmot works perfectly with HD48xx series...) Back to this computer, DVI port works fine with Shrike, however, I get weird input lag ang video stuterring with the LG 19" Flatron display that I don´t get with my other AOC monitor and with my 1080p LED LG TV. I tested it on my other computer (the one with HD4870) and the problem persists. It also persists in dual monitor and affects the other monitor that actually functioned fine alone. I´ve noticed that the video stutering is ciclical and regular (once after 5,4 seconds), affects all resolutions and screen frequencies, in programs, games, 2d or 3d, even in calculous programs, not graphics card dependent, limited to this display only. It has no such problems with D-sub (VGA/RGB...), problem does not exist in Windows or Linux/BSD. I´m thinking this has something to do with Framebuffer or OSX ATI drivers and refresh rate/frequency post errors/incompatibility, but I can´t be sure. it might explain the discrepancies i noticed in my previous post. I have no intention on buying another LCD display just to adress this issue. Untill this is resolved, I have switched the framebuffer back to Motmot. Only VGA works, with sleep working also. HDMI does not work, even with ATI´s DVI to HDMI cable on Backwards DVI does not work, even if VGA through DVI to VGA dongle. Thanks in advance, if I find a solution I will post. PS uploading Pre-RC5 modded to Motmot, if anyone needs it. Toadman i386_Pre_RC5_Motmot_mod.zip
  5. All right, here it goes: Switched to Shrike with partial success: Fixed the no repost after sleep, sleep now works flawlessly every time. Output is now DVI HDMI does not work VGA works if DVI plugged in, a sort of "dual monitor", as if it was mirrored, but it is not recognized in preferences and the res is the same as the main monitor (high res will force 2nd monitor if not supported and make it turn off or distort/flicker). Once Display sleep, VGA doesn´t return from sleep, but DVI will. VGA alone does not work DVI->VGA dongle alone does not work. So I fixed my main sleep problem and got a single nice DVI output, wich is OK for me, would like to have dual monitors working though... If anyone gets dual monitors properly working, please post. Something I encountered before I switched to Shrike (in Peregrine): I have a main AOC 22" monitor and an older LG 19" monitor No 2 video outputs ever AOC worked with HDMI port with HDMI to DVI cable (it´s ATIs cable backwards) When AOC in HDMI and LG in DVI, LG would work and AOC not, LG would be recognized as AOC and admit 16:10 and higher res (Distorted) When I switched them, I expected to be reciprocal, but with AOC in DVI and LG in HDMI, LG would work and be recognized as itself, AOC would not work Strangely, Display would sometimes (rarely) return from sleep at the other connected display, which wasn´t working before, after long periods waiting (left my cpu runing when no repost and whent do something else... found out accidentaly) VGA never worked This is very odd behavior, its as if correct display output might not be limited just to the framebuffer, but to the display brand used as well, which would explain different outputs and posts from different people with the same card, and would make everything a lot more difficult. Anyway, Shrike works for me, Benches seem the same, QE and CI works, haven´t gotten any glitches, wil post if I get any. Now all I need to figure out is why chameleon correctly identified and injected memory type and speed in 10.6.1 with AsereBLNs Booter and after 10.6.2 it doesn´t anymore... OFFTOPIC: Are ATI benches in Galaxies (OpenCL Bench) really this horrible to everyone or is it just my card (I´m getting like 10-15FPS, NVidia gets about 200-400!) I don´t know if I can, but I´m uploading my modded boot file, if not, please say and I take off. I´m adding a text file with how I installed it on EFI also. I got it off Trunk of Chameleon pre5 sources, all I did was change framebuffer from my card ID to Shrike in ati.c file in i386/libsaio and make. Post if it works Toadman i386_pre5_Shrike_moded.zip
  6. Hi I Have this exact same card. So far, I got it working DVI via HDMI to DVI cable on the HDMI port. QE and CI ok Have not tried other ports with other adaptors but will try later, DVI and VGA ports do not work without adaptors. I´m using pre5 compiled from source, the ati.c file was merged with Netkas 10.6 (except it uses RC4 and Netkas uses RC3...) and the framebuffer is Peregrine. The only thing that is bothering me is that the display cannot repost after sleep. It stays in Black screen. I would like to know if you are getting this also, or if not, could post your .plist and smbios files from extra. Are you using any kexts? (I´m 100% vanilla, only FakeSMC and LegacyHDA). I´ll try Shrike later and repost Thanks in advance Off topic, I have fixed ATIRadeonx2000.kext KP in all bootloaders I tried (Asere, RC4, RC3, Netkas 10.5, 10.6 and the pre5) in my Hack just by altering com.boot.plist in extra to be as simple as possible (graphics enabler=y and Kernel=Mach_kernel). The KP only seems to occur for me in 10.6.2.
  7. Wind / Advent Retail Install

Hello. I´ve recently aquired a MSI Wind netbook and intend on installing retail mac on it. I´ve seen your post and find the idea of 100% vanilla really apealing, however I lack the time for forum surfing and plist editing now and think i´ll take quite some time to do this alone. So, I´ve seen we have the same notebook and the same install method and was wondering if you could supply me with your kexts to get the install fully working on munky´s method (my system seems to boot ok, but the ps2 mouse, keyboard, video, audio and other kexts doesn´t seem to load...). Thanks in advance Toadman
  8. To thedguy: Hello, I´ve downloaded recently an iso from demon with "re-release, repackage" on it and has the same name as the one specified for the patch to work, only I get the same not found apple.boot.... error message after I patch it. The iso is visible in a virtual drive in my desktop, different from when the patch is applied to a completely different iso, when it just brakes. I´m seeing many people have been getting this problem, and it is most likely due to the iso not being the same MD5 as the original for the patch, although it has the same name. In this case, could u help out, if u just pointed out where I could find info on altering the DVD for booting or how to, as u did, I could just do it again on my DVD... I´m sure this would help many peple and save many DL hours. I´m using an LG DVD drive on Jmicron PATA and my country doesn´t have the adaptor cable, and SATA and external drives are just too expensive (I could buy a very decent video card for the price of that...), so I need IDE to work on the DVD... Thanks in advance Toadman
  9. Post YOUR instructions....

THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE IN GETTING AGP GEFORCEFX SERIES FULLY WORKING WITH QE/CI IN 10.4.8, 8.8.1 KERNEL. First of all, I'd like to point out that I take absolutely no credit for the following tutorial, all material was copied from this and some other forums and my "discoveries" may be attributed to common sense... I'd like to appologize to those who aren't getting their due citations, but I'm just plain lazzy , if you find this post you may claim your thread for recognition... I have come to notice that many people are still experiencing problems like "black screen" or "no QE/CI", particularly with agp and nvidia geforceFX series, and a lot of tutorials with magical sequences that should make it all work, working for some and not for others... So here's what I found out after looking into it a bit, this should work with all: 0- First of all, you must be running a 10.4.8 system on 8.8.1 kernel for it to work, and Semthex Beta 9 DOES WORK... 1- NVDA display randomly fails in every install I've made on every machine, including those with QE/CI enabled... The reason only people without QE/CI report it is because only they notice it So that is not a problem... 2- The problem lies in the .kexts, they MUST ALL HAVE THE SAME VERSION NUMBER IN ORDER FOR THEM TO WORK, dates don't matter... These include: - ALL Geforce kexts (there are 6 of them), ALL NVDA kexts (there are 5 of them) and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext must be version "1.4.40.4 (8.6.0f1)" - IOGRAPHICSFAMILY.kext and IONDRVsupport.kext must be version "1.4.4" (sugestive, right?) - IOPCIFAMILY.kext doesn't have much to do with loading the driver, but it would be best to have version "2.1" for AGP sake... - You can check the version by right clicking on the kext and choosing "get info", the 4th down from top to bottom... it is displayed right above the collour tabs... - You can find most of these kexts in the official intel 10.4.8 update, open it with pacifist and expand it to your desktop (there are tutorials on this page who teaches how to do this...), you might also try downloading them from other sources 3- Do not delete any unnecessary kexts before 1st boot, some drivers need to ping all plugins to discover they don't work, I don't know if this is the case, but... 4- You need to correctly modify NVDAResman.kext, Geforce.kext and NVDAVxxHAL.kext with your DEVICE ID, like so, othrwise it will hang: <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0x032210de&0xffffffff</string> being 0x0322 my DEV ID and 10de my Vendor ID (Nvidia), put yours over where mine is, DO NOT DELETE THE REST you can find yours in the upper left apple, about this mac, more info, display... YOU MUST EDIT NVDAResman.kext, Geforce.kext and NVDAVxxHAL.kext, being xx your arquitecture (20, 30, 40...) exactly this same way... Do this by right clicking the .kext, clicking "show package contents" and find info.plist typing in Terminal: sudo -nano -w , and drag the info.plist to the terminal and press "enter" in terminal, this should open it for edditing (after you put your password in...) After finnished, press "ctrl-o", "enter" and "ctr-x" DO NOT EDIT THE OTHER KEXTS 7- Drag your Titan/Natit to "System/library/extensions" folder 6- Install and correct permissions: Go to Terminal and copy this: sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDARESMAN.KEXT sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDARESMAN.KEXT sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV30Hal.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV30Hal.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IOGraphicsFamily.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IOGraphicsFamily.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIFamily.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIFamily.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IONDRVSupport.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IONDRVSupport.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce2MXGLDriver.bundle sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce2MXGLDriver.bundle sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce3GLDriver.bundle sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce3GLDriver.bundle sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGA.plugin sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGA.plugin sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceVADriver.bundle sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceVADriver.bundle sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache diskutil repairpermissions / This takes a bit, after this reboot and all should be good... if not, replace existing opengl.framework in "System/Library/Frameworks" with that of 10.4.8 oficial update (it should already be so, though...), about 13,4mb... repair permissions and reboot again. It could also be because of appleSMBIOS.kext, you'll then need to find paulicat's version on the net somewhere (don't know how it boot without it, but you never know...) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Now for AGP users there is a bit more: After 1st reboot, you can tray to make your performance better by getting AGPGART.kext... It works if you motherboard is compatible, mainly AMD64 for now... Just download it, drag it to the same extensions folder and type in terminal. giving your password when asked: sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Agpgart.kext sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/agpgart.kext sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache diskutil repairpermissions / And reboot, you should have agp detected... If not, try a different version. Latest for now is 2.2... it works better for a few intel motherboards, but lost a bit of AMD64 compatability (so I've been told...) If your AMD64 and it doesn't work, try version 2.1... Any earlier version requires older IOPCIFAMILY.kext versions, and you may loose QE/CI (no offense in trying...) After that you can try to enable QE2D and Disable Beamsync (good for LCD, tearing in CRT), look for Quartzsimple in search bar (yess, search bar goood...) That's all I have, got it working 100% in every computer i tried with this, hope it works for all... Mac OS X as only installed OS! HEHEHEHE
  10. OK, I got a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (754) + MSI Via K8T800 chipset+ 512 mb ram+ Geforce 5200 + 120Gb SATA HD on Via SATA. People say the DVD should automatically recognize my SATA HD, but the disk manager once it boot doesn´t. Tried everything people say in forum, but just can´t get it to install... Could somebody please tell me what to do, I really want to see how Mac OS X looks on my box (ps: don´t tell me to buy MAC, no MAC in my country...) I noticed there is no extensions folder in the newest DVD... Is this normal or is bad download? Thanks and sorry for bad english
  11. Ok, I`ve been trying for ages and searching forums to see if someone could help me on this one. I have an MSI Via K8T800 Mobo with via sata and i cant get it installed due to not recognizing ACPIDisplay.kext and not recognizing acpi platform. By deleting the extensions folder it will boot, but (of course) won`t recognize my SATA HD, and with the extensions folder and the propper kext it won`t boot. I`ve tryed "platform=x86PC" -v -x... with no changes (still tries to boot ACPI...). I`m getting desperate here, my brother succeded in booting it (really unstable) in a Barton SSE2 and I can`t get my Athlon 64 to boot and install... Any help would be great, if don't want to tell me, at least give me links, I'm almost giving up... Sincerely and thanks to all, sorry for my rusty english...
