lupark
Does anyone know of any ready to roll boxes that would work well as a HTPC? Size is a consideration but I think background noise levels and the ability to provide some serious processing power is top of the list. I've found this Super Micro box, any thoughts or other options? Supermicro 5046A-XB SuperWorkstation Barebone - Intel i7 Platform, up to 24GB DDR3 6x Hot Swappable HDD Bays - 865W PSU Included Motherboard - Super C7X58 Much more info here: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159150 There is a listed noise level of 27dB which seems reasonable but its quite pricey at £750 which is why I'm interested in other options. AdrienM
Totally missed the shuttle box - SX58H7, looks like a winner. I bought it yesterday to make a light Hack Pro, still didn't manage to have a running leopard on, althought it's my third hackintosh and my second core i7. Actually I'm lock on AppleACPICPU: ProcessorApicID=1 localApicId=0 Enabled ... etc. stuff. I'm sad because it could really be a good machine. theDAmartini
I'm thinking about buy one...Any success ? Gilberto Just thought I would throw this out here... Why in thte earth are you going with i7 for a htpc setup ? This just seems overkill. The GA-G31 ES2L and your quad/dual core of choice with some nice hard drives would be more than enough. Add a 8600gts to get full capable 1080p acceleration and HDCP support.. This setup seems overkill to me. Not flaming, just wondering where your going with this. And I need a SFF, because I don't have so much room on my desk. D. Starr
I'm thinking about buy one...Any success ? I'm running 10.5.7 vanilla on a Core i7 920 D0 + Rampage II Gene (mATX) in a Nzxt Rogue which is kind of big small form factor but I like it because it holds massive graphics cards, PSUs and HSFs.
