Hi everyone!

I'm writing these words from a fresh OSx86 install :DDDD

I had a problem like many others, that there was no disk to choose from when begining the install.

I managed to solve this problem like this:

In windows XP, using partition magic or similar program - create a new PRIMARY partition (preffered right after the boot disk for windows)

make sure this partition is UNALLOCATED, meaning there is nother there, just free space.

Run the diskpart command just as it appears in the wiki guide: after listing and finding your empty partition, use "create partition" with the AF attribute (don't remember exactlyt), then choose your unallocated space as input.

Nowq verify that this drive appears as AF in partition magic.

start the DVD, and again youi'll see nothing in the list of disks. howver, run disk utility now and and will allow you to format your new AF volume and it will even mount it for you (it says teh volume is not good structured or something). just let him do the format (be CARFUL!!!!! make sure you're deleting the right volum!!!!), then return to the main screen and there you go! a new volume/partition, no need for extra hard drive!

There's no responsibility for these works, do so at your own risk. Be aware that you might toast your computer at any time.

Thank you very much!

I had the same problem and thanks to your comments I managed to get the installation started. MacOSX is installing right now on my laptop.

After the installation do I have to fix the mbr, or OSX will recognize my previoud installed WinXP?

Thanks again!

I'm guessing you'll have to fix the mbr, cause my winxp won't boot, although all the data is still there (I can access the partition from within mac os x).

I have a similar problem, but if your OSX install went like mine, you can hit a key while the system is booting up - you'll see the message - and you then get a list of OS's that you can boot up. In my case I see WinXP as the first choice (OSX 86 is the default choice) and when I select that, I boot into XP.

Does anyone know how to change the default boot to XP (without installing another bootloader)?

I do get that list of os's to choose from, but when I select the win xp partition, nothing happens, it just stalls.

That's weird. If I select WINXP partition, it boots WinXP. Maybe you should try reinstalling WinXP.

I have another problem. When OSX boots normally I get an error saying that I have to reset my computer. It works only in safe mode.

edit: I managed to solve this problem by deleting[moving] the ati kext files....
