kevin3stone
This morning my laptop (run mac os x x86 10.4.1) was dead when I was away, and then I had to power off the laptop by force, after boot up, i use disk utility to fix volumn permission, it is still working well for a moment, then I cannot open MS word. so i decided to reboot the machine. but since then i can not start the mac os windows any more, it keeps giving me this error: ... ifcstart crashed ... INIT_Processeses(), could not establish the default connection to the WindowServer ... I tried to use single mode and run /sbin/fsck -fy to fix it, however, it doesn't allow me to fix the volumn. I have run this version for more than half of a year, never got this happened. today is the first time, so now please tell me what I can do, i have got all the thesis stored in that volumn please help me!!! thanks a lot! insanely666
http://www.osxterminal.com/ifcstart.8.html Try restarting in Safe Mode. Then move /System/Library/StartupItems/IFCStart/StartupParameters.plist to the desktop. If that doesn't solve the problem, move /System/Library/StartupItems/IFCStart to the desktop. If you want to recover this item, use Pacifist to extract it from the Tiger install DVD.
