bpoppe
Hello, I've installed 10.4.5 and even set it up to dual-boot. I'm still pretty much a newbie to OS X86, but I'm fairly famliar with the Mac - so basic applications and other commands are fine with me. I even pretty much understand the terminal commands, however I cannot for the life of me enable QE or CI. My graphics card is AGP and contains a TV Tuner (I know this will never work) but its TV Out is somehow supported if I use 1024x768 resolution. System profiler says this: Display: Type: VGA-Compatible Controller Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 64 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4966 Revision ID: 0x0001 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Not Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported So, since it says Not Supported am I out of luck? I've modified the ATIRadeon9700 and verified that it loaded, but then again I've had the ATIRadeon8500 loaded before. They're both loaded now, not sure if that is a major problem or not. I'd really like it to work as I would enjoy using iMovie and iDVD. OS X runs flawlessly other than this issue, even the DVD burner works without me doing anything at all. Let me know what I need to do in order to get QE and CI working. I'm pretty sure QE should work, but definitely not expecting CI. Thanks in advance for any help. HardHatMack
FYI - I've tried this process on my ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 and it doesn't work. So far I haven't found any way to enable QE/CI on my Dell Latitude D600. If anyone knows of a way, I'd love to know. user2
The 9000 doesn't support Core image anyway. The best you could hope for is Quartz extreme Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16114-qeci-on-ati-all-in-wonder-radeon-9000/#findComment-104210 Share on other sites
bpoppe
@ quixos I tried uninstalling/removing the 8*00 kexts, patching ATIRadeon9700.kext and then also adding my id to both 9700 and Radeon kexts. I then removed the extensions cache and repaired permissions. I've tried all possible combinations of the above and all left me unable to boot (hangs at white screen with grey apple/spinny wheel). So I used the -x to safe boot and then repaired everything to the way it was before, so now I use the 8*00 kext and everything seems to work. So...to sum it up, I still do not have QE, but I do have a working installation. Anyone else have any bright ideas? I appreciate the help, just didn't work for me. Thanks again.
