JEB101
I'm running 10.5.6 Vanilla (also tested with Voodoo) on my P5E motherboard Specs: Intel QX6850 Asus P5E Motherboard (X38 chipset) 8GB DDR-2 OCZ platinum Nvidia BFG 8800GT OC2 Installed a D-Link DFE-530TX+ in there for official driver support. Now here's a background on what I have done and what it`s doing.. I started the install with Kalyway 10.5.2, directly upgraded to 10.5.6; Installed Video drivers, and found drivers for OSX for the Marvel Yukon (OSX uses the 54 version, i edit to use 56..) I then fix permissions, reboot and it was working to browse (before it was showing Cable Unplugged). But when I try to download a file, about 200k in Kernel Panic!! Must reboot! At this point I installed the DFE-530TX in the PC, booted in windows to confirm and it works, OSX does not detect it.. I tried reinstalling an official IONetworkingfamily.kext from my friends Macbook Pro (10.5.6) and on reboot OSX will report it cannot use the file. At this point I have NO IONetworkingfamily.kext file running (though I have a backup of the one that will freeze PC on DL) Do you guys have any idea on how I could get these cards working? I don't care about onboard if it`s easier to use a fully supported card. Thanks! Maniac10
Could it be this? Anyway, you should take a picture of the kp and post it here. JEB101
I will post a picture of the crash once I get home, but where it freezes is in the mid of the download. DMG files open without issues. I will edit post and update later. I will edit post and update later. Just curious - Are you using Safari? I had the same issue on a clean 10.5.6 install on an old Dell system with the onboard LAN (no problem mounting DMG's either - I Tried the 10.5.5 seatbelt but no go. The fix for me was to run the official 10.5.6 full update (over the 10.5.6 install then update Safari via the Apple software updater. Not sure why but it did fix the problem - I gave it no further research since that solved it. Firefox had no issues once I was able to download it. And Unfortunately for the moment I can't recreate the issue because I replaced the IONetworkingfamily.kext file with a working version, I just need to add my drivers... But with this installation I performed Combo Update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.6, and I believe did complete system update on 10.5.2 Also, on installing a NIC to the system, is there something I am missing or might the card not work? Because I installed a Dlink DFE-530TX (Rev B1 i think) and installed the Dlink drivers from their web site, reboot and it does not detect the card.. Thanks! Does the card show up running lspci in terminal (or you can get it with OSX86 tools). lspci will let you know if the card is even being detected by the system on a hardware level and then we can go from there. If it worked in windows than its probably good. I am curious if the device ID matches the driver. I see the Marvel Adapter which is onboard, and I believe that the VIA Enet controller is my IEEE1394 controller interface. Should I try a DFE-538 instead? Unfortunately, even after using kext installer and fixing permissions it keeps saying that it's invalid and not setup correctly. I have tried doing it manualy, with kext editor, fix perms with Onyx, and keeps coming up on boot not valid.. Sorry about that - Ok, I just loaded the attached and it did load on both a Hack and real Mac - Some weird persistent permission issue that I had to manually change. Sorry about that - Ok, I just loaded the attached and it did load on both a Hack and real Mac - Some weird persistent permission issue that I had to manually change. Let me know if this one works I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, but OSX refuses to use it. This time it installed correctly, even got an update message on shutdown. But I did manage to get my Marvel Adaptor working. Something weird happened though.. When I was deleting the original file you gave me I got a popup saying EN1 was found and is now in network, I check it out but canot open Network, so I install your file, reboot with success update message, come back without EN1, BUT my yukon chip started working with no problem, which is weird because I have a Stock ionetworkingfamily.kext with no added kext for the nic. So I think I'm going to try the DFE-538TX I have, they all have the same chipset. On the 530TX I have here it sais DL10030B on chip, and have an older of same modem with A. The 538TX I have all have the same DL10030C chip. These cards are close to 10 years old and before they changed to new chipsets.. Also, I seem to have the seatbelt KP happening, no biggie I got the files here Just need to replace, but I know this is going to be a dumb question.. I thought that I was running Vanilla 9.6 turns out 9.2.2.. Where would I go along to update again? Also, my buddy has a MBP and sais he can give me a copy of his.. Would that work? Thanks again for all your help!!! JEB101
Why not simply use Voodoo 9.5.0 from here.......? It's because I am able to run Vanilla stable. I updated to a xnu 9.6.0 version, but was hoping to get unmodified kernel going to avoid issues in the future.. Searay_X
... I thought that I was running Vanilla 9.6 turns out 9.2.2.. Where would I go along to update again? Also, my buddy has a MBP and sais he can give me a copy of his.. Would that work? Sorry for the late response - Ive been working various issues (trying to patch silverlight for someone) You can use the kernel from his MBP but do the following; 1. rename the kernel to something like mach_kernel.latest 2. copy it to / 3. make sure the permissions are correct 4. reboot and at the boot options type "mach_kernel.latest -v" 5. see if it boots 6. if so, open terminal and type "uname -a" to verify you loaded the mach_kernel.latest If you boot fine you can simply rename the old one to mach_kernel.orig (or remove it) then rename mach_kernel.latest to mach_kernel This way you are sure not to break anything.
