B612
Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know my experience. Yesterday I downloaded a full CD in APE format. I have Windows, but I didn't want to bother to reboot my computer, so I started looking on the Net for a good sound converter which could transform my APE files to mp3 or whatever format readable through my iPOD. I downloaded a lot of stuff. There are many programs pretending to do many things with Monkey's Audio, but none of them really works properly. In fact, with each of them I got error messages or a terribly bad conversion, which couldn't even play on my MAC. So in the end, I went to monkey's audio website and downloaded the last stable version for Windows. I installed it with WINE and it worked perfect! Then, I went to my User's folder, I pressed Control+Shift+G, I typed .wine, I went to "Program Files", I found monkey's audio's exe and I made a shortcut for it, which I put in my application folder. Now it works perfect! I hope you find this information useful... Have a good day, everybody. B612
was this WINE, or DarWINE? cool to know. more info? Of course it was Darwine. I said Wine, because I was probably getting confused with Linux. Do you really want more info? What kind? Well, for what I know, Cog is just a player, not a converter! of course I have it, but how would I use it to convert something?!? theprodigy
There's indeed an easier solution. Download Max from here which supports a myriad of formats, Monkey's Audio among them.
