ok this is exactly what i´ve done. after that i reboot mac os x, and then i install the nvkushdriver.pkg....after that mac os x doesnt boot up.... it hangs up by the apple logo with the rounding circle...... what could it be????

 

EDIT: when i install the nvkushdriver.pkg after that i have install this, you write in your guide that i must make a reboot, but when i click on reboot it comes a rounding circle out and it turns around, around, around and nothing more. so i make a reset and then it doesnt boot anymore...

 

EDIT 2: :-) i cant remove the disc... the tray doesnt drives out...i click on the icon at the top right side from mac os x but it happens nothing.....

Boot with the "-v" option and tell us what's going on there.

 

If you see a "still waiting for the boot device", you should check your BIOS.

 

More to say is complicated as my glass bowl is gone for maintanence and I've NO idea which board/chipset/BIOS etc. do you have...

 

If this won't work, try installing the Chameleon without putting the extensions inside. If it's not EXACTLY the GA-P35-DS3 v1 this could be a possible reason.

Yeah that's a reboot problem. Nothing strange. You should read my instructions carefully. Maybe you've to turn off your PC by pressing the power button for some seconds are switch off the PC on the powersupply's switch.

 

What EXACTLY happens there? Have you tried to boot with "-v"? If so - take a photo...

Shut down the computer as mentioned above.

my board is ga-p35-ds3 rev 2

 

yes it comes this screen out but without the forbidden logo, it just hangs up...

 

i´ve bootet with the -v option, it doesnt hangs up at Still waiting device".... it hangs up at another place, but i make a photo and show you the screen......

Hmm another possible option: Boot with the "-s" command and mount the device as shown "/sbin/mount -uw /"

 

Then "cd /System/Library/Extensions"

Then "rm -rf NVK*"

Then "reboot"

 

Maybe NVKush creates this issue.

 

I'm wondering that on you photos, there's no "Still waiting for the boot device" message..

5 things:

 

1st: I made a mistake. It's "rm -rf NVk*" and not "rm -rf NVK*" (lower case k!)

 

2nd: Check your BIOS settings again - compare them with my photos on post #1 of this thread. I've the feeling that the HDD is not correctly set to AHCI.

 

3rd: I still don't get WHICH message is the error message, honestly. Is this "Still waiting for the boot device" or not? You photos don't show this.

 

4th: Have you tried to search on a search engine of your choice or inside this forum?

 

5th: Is the HDD you've installed on the purposed boot device? Check by pressing F8 during startup and selecting this HDD to boot from directly.

Yes! I've got Snow Leopard this morning for my MacBook, but reading through different forums for many many hours let me think that it's currently just painfull.

 

Snow Leopard on my MacBook does not really run well what surprises me. Ok - I've done an update instead of installing from scratch - maybe that's it, but I run in trouble with (recently noticed those Appz/AddOns):

 

- Saft

- AdBlock for Safari

- CoverSutra (does not show any titles anymore) / EDIT: There's a fixed BETA Version on http://www.sophiestication.com/blog/

- iStat Menu (does not work in 10.6) / EDIT: See http://getsatisfaction.com/bjango/topics/i...rt_snow_leopard

 

I must say, I'm a bit pissed to spend 29 Euros on a System that makes my Appz work no longer :S But it's my own fault. I neither likes XP before SP1, no Vista before SP2 and I guess no 7 before 1st update. Mac OS was much better before, but those are these little painpoints who are annoying me.

 

Other issues I have with my current Leopard Hackintosh is that the shutdown does not work anymore, the system reacts slow sometimes, CUDA does not work at all (even after installation of the nVidia drivers) which is very annoying as I love to crunch SETI@home WUs.

 

Over all, honestly I'm really thinking of stopping doing Hackintoshs :) It costs me too much work for a too bad result, and I haven't even tried to install Snow Leopard on it. I'm running Hackintoshs since 10.4.6 (JaS) and I appreciated it. I've sold my way too cool and superb Mac Pro (8core Xeon) workstation because I wanted a good RAID5 and thought I could live with Windows. I couldn't and my idea "Hey - if I'm not familiar with Vista, I could install OSX". Yes I can, but it works as described. Moving my Quad Core CPU back to the GA-P35-DS3 is maybe a nice idea, but it just has 1 PCIe x16 slot and I need at least 2 for my 2 graphic cards to run 4 screens (or at least 3 on a daily base).

 

I'm angry currently, because it does not work as expected, it does not work at all and I'm pissed because I've spend too much hours on it. Maybe a bad idea to get an ASUS board, but I paid a lot for it and I'm satisfied with the board, when I run Vista.

 

Just yesterday I told a friend: "I don't say Vista is a bad OS. I simply don't like it." and that's the truth, but to be honest, which other systems could I use? OSX works not fine enough - sadly. Linux? Uhh.. not very good for me on desktops. I enjoy Debian as server. UNIX? Sure - OpenSolaris won't boot my ASUS board :) And the rest is history. It seems like Windows is the only system I could use if I want to have the full experience of CUDA, have a working shutdown & reboot and a... well it's slower than OSX since Intel switch ever was - GUI.

 

I know, this is a hard critic on myself and maybe on the selected options regarding the last investments. Maybe some would come up with a nice idea right here or via PM, as this really Off-Topic.

I run 3 monitors off my DS3R, using an EVGA uv plus. It is a usb graphics card that lets you add another monitor to your setup. Not nearly as good as having PCIE slots, but it works.

I tried it with the SL-Retail, but it won't work, because of a missing .plist.

Then i read your last post and noticed that your guide doen't support SL -.-

I will try it wit Leopard one more time ;)

Having an USB Display adapter as option is a nice idea. I've never thought about this option honestly - and never thought it will work woth a Hackintosh. This is great news! :(

The problem is, that there is a special Boot CD needed for Snow Leopard. Putting in the Boot-132 CD and booting up Snow Leopard simply does not work. I tried it and got a black screen. Maybe in the next weeks, there is possibly a fixed version, based on Chameleon RC2 available (which speaks with Snow Leopard as I heared from rumors) available. Until then, there seems to be a proper way to install SL by using at least 3 discs (or 2 discs with 3 partitions).

As mentioned above, not yet. I feel really honored, that you're placing this question in my little thread here, really, but just to highlight it again. I've no longer the option to try it with a GA-P35-DS3 Rev1 board. Maybe a picture would underline it.

 

So - this is my server which is (without rails) built into my rack in the basement. So it's hard to remove it for a good reason. It's running Windows Server 2008 x64 meanwhile and does a good job.

Hi again,

 

as I mentioned before, I have a few troubles booting...

 

When I come to the step to enter the boot-device I can choose my 60 gig HFS+ SATA partition, he tells me that some plist file is missing...

I will redo it in a few minutes and give you a picture, first want to complete this post :P .

I also renewed my complete Windows to swich to AHCI.

Another thing I noticed:

When I load the Iso Linux, he makes all those spots, but then he goes directly the the screen you posted below, so there is no "BOOT" at all.

I tried to install an iDeneb some month ago, is there maybe somthing preloaded that I dont want to be there?

btw: the same problem occurred during my "experiments" with SL as seen before, he couldnt find a plist either.

 

I hope you can help me out of this,

Edit: here are the pics, the second one is screwed, but it shows the name only for about 1 sec...

I entered 82, because its my third HD in my PC... //thats where i wanted it to be installed, sry about that

 

I burned it, and Nero confirmed me that this is what i wanted to have, so i dont think there is any mistake in the image, but i dont want to be too sure...

2 gig ddr2 Gskill RAM

 

 

if I enter "ef" as it says in brackets there is a "EBIOS read error: Error..."

 

and it boots Oo

 

i guess it works now, and i understand my mistake, s.o.

i will run through, but it would be nice if you could tell me anything about those "EBIOS read errors"...
