Vivalarte
Hi congrats on Your install !!! and a superior Machine I do have kind of similar config. with less memory and disk space .. TYAN S5396 Tempest i5400XT Motherboard 2 Intel Xeon E5450 Quad Core 3.0 4 Gb Kingston FB-DIMM DDRII 667 MHZ Nvidia Quadro Fx 4600 WDC WD 3000 GFLS I managed to install Kalyway 10.5.1 hovever I am stacked with FCP, Maya and other soft because of early Mac os version and problems with Graphic card drivers( I have found something on Nvidia Quadro site concerning FX 4800 ? I guess but this applies to at least 10.5 6 Mac osX as I remember. Anyway for now I am downloading iDeneb v 1.4 update so I could upgrade Kalys instalation ... but I can smell complications and I am getting ready for the whole new install the way You did. [with install iDeneb 10.5.6 and upgrade to latest ]. Could You point me out to good link for this file.[ or md5 at least ] I checked original iDeneb italian site but author offers only updates [due to size of file I guess.] Besides if You dont mind I have a couple of questions 1: How did You managed to get drivers for Quadro graphic card ? 2:How did You overcome problems with Maya installation. I tried to do this all night with Maya 2008 torrent version no luck. I am planning to set a workstation with FCP. latest Maya and Pro toools on this machine specially build for this purpose but if I will not managed I will have to back to Win XP ( which I would not like ) If You prefer please PM me. filmowieckin@gmail.com Any help would make my dark day bright. Vivalarte
Hi thanks motionworks for all the precious advices. Thanks to You I am now running Mac os X 10.5.6 through "iDeneb 10.5.6 " Also I was able to install FCS 2 and now thinking of Maya and all the soft that I have been running on XP . I will try to do that through Parralels 5 ? is it good choice ? how fast will the windows .. app runs comparing to original windows. One thing that occupies my mind is how do I repartition my One partition disk without touching my system files , boot etc.. Is there a something like Partition Magic for Mac ? If no maybe there is no need for repartitioning disk.. just creating folders ? And there is still Snow Leo ahead od me. " winter is near by anyway. Thanks one more time for all the suggestions . tinetine
Hi guys, I have the same motherboard: TYAN S5396WA2NRF Motherboard Have you tried to install snow leopard on it? No success for me. future_former
Hi guys, I have the same motherboard: TYAN S5396WA2NRF Motherboard Have you tried to install snow leopard on it? No success for me. Bye I already have installed Snow Leo a few weeks before and it runs very fine. I installed it native vanilla, check out this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183751 For my graphics card, I had to install nvinject 0.2 and for ALC 888 onboard sound Voodoo HDA enabler from an iAtkos v7 distribution. Sometimes I have some issues with two of the rear USB ports (USB-keyboard is not recognized), but I think it's a hardware problem, not software (perhaps too low power on USB bus ?). Hibernate also does not work perfect, but I think it is because I have a Symbios Logic SCSI PCI adapter installed and Snowy does not like it for power management ? I don't know, WTF. Uh, and OS updates from Apple are not working, I get a black screen after updating and rebooting. But doesn't matter, I actually don't need any update and perhaps someone from OSx86 scene will discover to fix this up in a few days. ;-) This is my current hardware configuration: Mainboard: TYAN Tempest i5400XT CPU: Intel Xeon DP 5405 2,0 GHz RAM: 4 x 1024 MB Samsung FB-DIMM 667 MHz Graphics: Sparkle nVidia Geforce 9600 GT PCIe 512 MB passive cooled DVD: 2 x LG GH22LS50 HD: WD5000AAKS 500 GB (OS X 10.6) HD: WD5000AAKS 500 GB (OS X DATA) HD: WD3200AAKS 320 GB (Windows XP MCE 2005) HD: WD7500AAKS 750 GB (My Documents) Keyboard: Apple USB-Keyboard from iMac Mouse: Microsoft IntelliMouse 1.1 Sound: 2 x RME Audio RayDAT SCSI: Symbios Logic LSI 21320-R So far, I am very happy with this Snow Leopard installation, because I can use Apple Logic 9 with very small latency (32 samples, yeah !), now. Perfect audio & MIDI timing, overall system performance is much better than with Windows XP 32-Bit. I like Snowy Leopard. :-D future_former Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157657-looking-for-tyan-5400xt-users-s5396/#findComment-1403109 Share on other sites
