Ok.... So how....?

 

It is a matter of coping the .kext file that you want to install into the /System/Library/Extensions directory removing the caches and Extension.mkext file then rebooting to use the -f flag to force the rebuilding of caches by reloading all the .kext on the system so it will see the changes.

Ok, and where can I get new drivers (kext files) from? I looked on the iPC DVD but I can't find them... maybe on the internet somewhere?

It is possible there could be a different driver on the disk but most times you will find what you need by searching the site here or the internet in general, this best done if searching the site using Google with site:insanelymac.com as the last search term because the search function here just plain sucks, you would want to include the model of your sound card/motherboard probably in it. A really good idea to get working sound without much hassle is to get an older Creative Labs SB Live or Audigy card and use the kX driver that can be found on the site here it works great.
