Hi. I can't a find a general hardware thread thus I thought of putting it here- my apologies. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is my LCD screen, the video card, the psu or the motherboard. I have a powerstrip; I don't think it's the quality of the power. When I turn off the computer and monitor for a period of hours and then I switch the computer back on, the lcd would be a little dimmer then for a few seconds the screen will go blank with power led on green still, If I switch it off and switch it back on again quickly, it shows whatever is on screen again then after a few seconds it goes back to being blank. If I do this a few times (on, off, on, off) for less than 5 minutes more or else, it then becomes normal. It also goes back to normal brightness. I'm not sure if it's the flourescent light in it's coz' I've read it has a lifespan of more than thousands of hours. My lcd monitor was bought in 2005. Although I leave the computer on for 24 hours usually, the screen and power savers are always set. My LCD is a Viewsonice VA721.

Note: The video card's fan stopped before but is not running normally (I just turned on the computer. In about an hour the computer was turned on, the fan spun normally and is still spinning normally now).

If you can help me diagnose where the problem is, that would be a great help. (I'm hoping it's the video card coz' I plan to upgrade that soon:)Thanks in advance. Gbu.
