Sorry if this is a dumb and maybe repeated question. I use Apple hardware at home for years now and would love to get a Macbook Pro from my employer to use it in the office. I'm working in an international company working with Windows machine exclusively.

Can I really expect that everything will work like it would do on a Win-notebook? Of course installing Bootcamp and WinXP Pro. I'm pretty sure that office applications, programs like Xpress or Photoshop will run perfectly but in the office I'm connected to several servers, running remote connections to a CRM-Software, using Citrix-connections, connecting to Exchange servers, etc.

Don't get me wrong. But I really have to get sure, avoiding getting in troubles with our IT-department or my boss if some applications or drivers just are not supported on the Apple Macbook Pro.

Welcome to the forum, max_pixelfreak.

Not a dumb question at all. You should be able to run just about everything like it was a regular PC notebook. There are still a few driver issues and things that aren't fully supported, but I would imagine that just about everything you're needing to do, you can do on a MBP.

Are you mainly concerned with the networking aspect or are there other, more specific concerns you have?

Many thanks for your appeasing reply. Well, I just have to get sure that everything works in the same way as it would do on a Win notebook. Especially all those network connections, login to our domain controller, etc.

Will the VGA port work properly if I connect the Macbook Pro to a Beamer under WinXP?

Yup, everything works. I'm an IT guy in our company and added the MBP to our domain just like any other PC... Did a few tests with network speed etc. and it's just as quick as any of our other 1Gbps connections.

Only issue I've noticed is booting in DOS via a bootCD... Seems memory management doesn't work as expected - can't load himem, tried various ways but it just errors out. I'm guessing it's because of the new hardware... new versions should fix it. I use this to load up Ghost/Imagecast software...

On a good note, Windows PE works fine (which makes sence since Vista loads 100%)
