Tommywomble
Hi, new here (and to OSX86 in general ) Looking to install leopard on my laptop along with windows vista (already installed) (From the name of the ISO i have, it looks like im using "iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Intel|AMD SSE2|SSE3".) I downloaded an ISO, burned it, and first of all it had a kernel panic, i fixed this by applying this patch, this allowed me to get past the very first loading screen (The one with an just an apple logo in the centre). I followed a guide on youtube, which told me to use Disk management, to partiton my HDD, i did this and used the settings it told me (Quick format and Enable file and Folder compression) then used diskpart, to set the newly made partiton as the active one ( list disk, select disk 0 etc) i reboot with my dvd in the drive, and get as far as the installer, i go to disk utilities and erase the partition i created so it can be detected by the installer.I did this selected the appropriate drive and clicked install, and it installs partially, up until it fails with the error (disk is damaged or dirty) or something to that effect, even though i burned it at the slowest speed, and it isnt scratched at all. Just wondering, in the iso burning apps options, it says finalize disc, it is set to off by default, so i left it unchecked, could this be the reason it wont install? does the disc need to be finalized? Sorry for the longwinded and confsuing thread, but i need help with this Much appreciated, Tommywomble Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152562-dell-inspiron-1545-compatible/ Share on other sites
Tommywomble
Anybody? i have just realised that i bneed to install the ppf3, 4 and 5 patch's could this be causing the problem? and another thing (sorry! ) I have realised the video tutorial i used was for a different version of osx86. Am i doing the right thing with the hdd partitioning method etc? if its easier to JUST run OS X than to dual boot, any help would be great, i just really wanna try OS X out xD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152562-dell-inspiron-1545-compatible/#findComment-1077600 Share on other sites
Tommywomble
Nobody else tried on this laptop ? I tried installing again earlier, but when i try and boot without a separate partiton (I now have just my C:\ drive) it just wont boot from the cd.At all :S. It just takes me to the windows boot advanced options (start in safe mode, last good settings etc) I am now looking for a good guide (I understand i am meant to search, and i have, but i cant find any good ones) to get it working as the primary OS on Dell 1545, the a 2.0ghz core 2 duo, 3gb ram and integrated graphics. I understand its probably a longshot asking for a specific tut/ guide on my specific laptop model, if there isnt one (doubtful) could you please reccomend a guide for a laptop of similar hardware, any help you guys can offer would be GREAT Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152562-dell-inspiron-1545-compatible/#findComment-1077827 Share on other sites
Tommywomble
Sorry for the, well, quadruple posts, but i had another thought, might it be worth trying it with another "distro" (Sorry, dont know the correct terminology lol) I'm currently downloading the iAtkos 5i one (It was the one with most seeders on the bay of pirates) Could this one possibly work with my laptop? and any ideas why it wont boot from the cd when i have my C:\ drive set as the active drive? conlamenteabierta
Hi there, Im also new here, a friend bought also Dell Inspiron 1545. I tried with Ideneb but just at final ajustments, it repeats, continously, and dont let me finish the instalation. Now im trying, with IAtkos V4.1, i did every step i read before, delete the harddisk, formate it new, and so on, Everythings seems fine, until restarting, there appears the apple symbol and charging, it needs a few minutes, no osx apears, but a symbol like prohibided, just in the apple symbol. I tried it a few times in diferent ways, but always same story, maybe sombody could say me what Im doing wrong, or where is the fault. boblettoj99
Just got my inspiron 1545, in the process of trying to get kalyway 10.5.2 installed. i got to a working desktop once but there were no drivers for ethernet or wireless card which is rubbish. I also got stuck at the apple logo on the second install....on my third now i does look well good on this screen though! EDIT: If you do get past the apple logo screen mine has gone to the "do you already own a mac" loop, this is solved by hitting any key when you start up and typing: "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32" ANOTHER EDIT: After much searching it seems pretty much every piece of hardware in this laptop is awaiting drivers from developers... oh well...i can wait. Andrey Roth
I'll b getting this laptop pretty soon, I ordered directly from Dell, but here in Brazil it takes 'round a month for them to send the laptop, so, I am not an expert, but I've been installing Mac OS X on intel machines since the Tiger 10.4.4 JaS (I wonder what happened to this distribution?) I already installed on my Inspiron 1525 last year, but it was stolen (Thank god the thief is too dump to use a Mac System ) and I think that the network drivers (if Intel) can work with this same driver from the 1525: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=122372 Hope I can be useful, in the future, I'll keep coming to this topic If I can be useful, If u guys need anything I'll be glad to help, if I can. In that pack you will find the Ethernet Drivers. I can see it in Network preferences and configure it but I have not actually used it (I use Wifi). Now if only I could get drivers for the GMA4500mhd. Can't change resoloution above 1024x768. Anyone? Anyone? soyado
I bought the OS Fresh at a store, installed it with a boot loader, loaded the drivers for the 1525 (don't think this changed anything) then loaded the broadcom driver for wireless network (this actually worked) then applied the patch 10.5.8, and after that i had to reload the broadcom driver (kext). The point is everything seems to work on this model except: 1. Display Resolution (Set to 1024 x 768) (Aspect Ratio Sucks!) 2. Audio Driver (If you try to play any sound the computer will hang 3. Screen wont turn off as expected after inactivity, the screen freezes but remains, thus burning the screen This is my last status. Anyone can help? kaonflux
i just purchased a dell inspiron 1545 (the $499 one) and after MUCH trials and error i finally located voodooHD audio drivers for intel HD audio that WORK. ive attached the kext to this posting. just use kext helper to install the kext after removing appleHDA.kext as well as ALCinject.kext (if you have them), repair permissions using disk utility, and reboot. enjoy. anybody know how to get the trackpad to work so you can tap to click? also the power management features arent working yet with the drivers i got for the 1525. iuzzef
The problem with this dell model is it uses the GMA 4500mhd a video card not supported yet in OSX. There are various post on this forum about creating a driver like: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185600 But they have not succed yet. This mean at this time you can have the 1366 x 768 resolution but you can not watch a DVD or play a 3D game. There is a google code group that you will want to check from time to time: x4500 - Project Hosting on Google Code Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152562-dell-inspiron-1545-compatible/#findComment-1316906 Share on other sites

I tried removing the other 2 kexts you said to remove but it would seam as though I don't have them. SO again I tried using kext helper and rebooted many times and ran disk utility and stll no sound or anything, maybe I am doing somthing wrong? How can I check to see if I have those 2 kexts and what method do you recomend for removing them if I do have tem? Thanks! Misternice
hi all! i'm brand new on the "hackintosh" (and my english seems to be bad) but i've a DELL studio 1545 since may 2009, but they seems to be mostly differents between each models. I've Core2Duo T6400, with 4GO RAM, and a HD Radeon video card (don't know the model, and i cannot access to my laptop cause there is a non-functionally hackintosh version on :D Well, i installed 2 differents versions on my laptop: iAtkos v7 & iDeneb V1.3. On the first installation, i followed this tutorial. But just after the loading (with a fruit a little bit know of every one, i don't know what is it really .... ), i can see a grey screen, with few colored pixels. On my iDeneb installation, i can see the country selection, then 'transfer mac-to-mac' page, and when i try to continue with no transfer, the first menu returns (with the country selection). I hope i will not disturb you with my questions but... WHAT THE {censored} ? And i'm sorry to post here but i can't create a new topic, i'm too young on this forum :/ Thanks a lot EDIT : my video card seems to be a Radeon HD4330 256mo !
