Edel Hert
Hey guys, O, do I love my 'Mac'!! Really, it's awesome and quite a bit faster then vista. This website is very usefull too; Great job! But just when I was thinking that I had found the right installation/configuration, I bump into this panic every time I unrar or par a big file. First I thought that it was SABnzbd who coursed the panic, but than I started to unrar manually and than it gave me the same panic except instead of 'current thread: SABnzbd' it shows 'current thread: kernel_task'. When I enable 'Quartz GL' with OSx86 Tools it shows 'panic(cpu3 caller...' instead of 'panic(cpu2 caller...'. I suppose that it's a problem with my Quad core, it is just like when it is using to much memory it panics. But as you can see Active Monitor is showing 4 cores and when I use Geekbench it seems to recognise all of my hardware. So I hope you guys know what the problem is, because this really sucks. I have a: -2,4 Ghz Core 2 Quad -nVidea GeForce 8800 GT 512mb -XFX 680i LT motherboard -4x1GB 800 MHz RAM Am using (as you can see) XXX-10.5.6 Leo Install disc Rev1 Thanks in advance! Headrush69
This looks more similar to the old large memory and ATA driver problem. (There is a long thread about this, sorry no link of hand.) As a test can you switch to using the AHCI disk driver instead of the SATA driver? (In BIOS) And/or can you remove 2 DIMMS and run with only 2GB of RAM and see if the problem still occurs? If either of those steps doesn't produce the error, we know that's the problem. westwaerts
with an NV-based mobo and NV-Graficcard you have to edit proper Vendor and IDs in the respective kexts should not be anything with CPU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152463-probably-a-quad-core-error/#findComment-1077287 Share on other sites
Edel Hert
Thanks for the advice! I did read about the use of only 2 DIMMs, but that's not realy the solution I am looking for, because that way I am just loosing 2 gigs, while people got it working with 4 GB. So what are proper Vendor and IDs? I know I can add them using 'Display Utility', but I don't realy understand what to add or edit. Do I have to type something there, or do I have to put kext files in there, and if I do, witch kext files. Edel Hert
westwaerts, can you please explain a little bit more about those "Vendor and ID's". I tried the searchengine, but couldn't really find it... Edel Hert
I already have re-installed seatbelt from 10.5.5 to solve the .dmg mouting panic, so that's not what's coursing this panic. I would realy appreciate it if someone could tell me more about that Vendor and ID's stuff....!!!
