fr0st m0nkey
I have all of those distros from past install attempts but I've never got anything working. I just picked up a new dell vostro 220 that has the G45 Express chipset. I have an X3100 that I can throw in so I can have video support, but how will the chipset play with the rest of my computer? I am running Vista so I shrank the volume by 20gb then made a new raw 20gb partition (Z:\). If I throw in one of these disks, can I install OS X to that new partition without messing up my Windows install? I read that I'll have to fix the boot order or something using the repair console on the vista disc but I can't find the guide now, anyone have a link to it? Also, can I pre-download the kexts and stuff I'll need and put them on a USB drive or something so I can install them incase I don't have internet out of the box? fr0st m0nkey
I'm now using iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final. I'm running an X1300 because the integrated video isn't supported, so I have natit_ATIauto kexts downloaded already for after I finish installing. I also downloaded the drivers for the Realtek RTL8111/8168B off Realtek's website so I should have ethernet. Now all I need to do is figure out the sound (ICH10 HD Audio??) drivers. However, this is all just in theory because I haven't even ran the disc yet. I'm also going to be making sure I check the ICH10 Sata drivers compatibility in the chipset options. Is there anything else I should have to change/that anybody knows before I give it a shot in the morning? fr0st m0nkey
Alright well I just burned the iso using nero and booted from it. The computer just restarts like 5 seconds into darwin launching. Any ideas? Magna Farta
I just got my Vostro 220 last night. I'm having no luck with iDeneb 1.4 (OS 10.5.6), but then again, I have no idea what I'm doing. If it's any consolation, I don't think anyone else has gotten the Vostro 220 to boot either. Keep us updated with your progress! I had been running iPC 10.5.4->10.5.6 retail and now just got SL working, following the better guides out there, with very minimal pains. Hardest part was getting my partitions right since I only have one and had only a usb drive to work with. Otherwise, I have a geforce7300gs (256) enabled via efi, cham2rc3, and have only had one panic so far.
