Hi,

I am trying to install OSx86 in my laptop(HP Pavilion DV4 - 1131tx) with the following configuration:

Core2Duo T5800 (2.0Ghz) , 800Mhz FSB, 3GB RAM, Intel PM45, ICH9-M, NVidia 9200M GS, Realtek 8168c network, Broadcom 4315 wireless, IDT Audio.

BIOS provided for this laptop is very limited and cannot change anything except simple options like the boot order, fan, date time, etc.

I tried using installing Kalyway 10.5.2, iATKOS 10.5.5, iPC 10.5.5, iDeneb 10.5.6 and 10.5.5, XXX 10.5.6, Retail 10.5.4 (using Kabyl's boot-132 CD and Dell Inspiron Boot-132) but can't get through to installation. I am struck with "still waiting for root device" error for all the distros. I tried using all the combinations of flags -x, -v, -s, -d, cpus, platform.

I get the error just before waiting for root device error.

---------------------------------------------------

EHCI Controller unable to take control from BOIS.

AppleUSBEHCI [0x5095800] unable to obtain ownership 0xe00002be.

AppleUSBEHCI [0x5095800] UIM Initialize - Error Occurred.

AppleUSBEHCI Unable to Initialize UIM.

I would be very greatful if somebody can help me out in resolving this issue.

Suggest you check your BIOS settings for USB devices and for IDE/SATA too......depending on your HDD type.......but if these options as you imply are not present then you will likely have issues........

Hi!!Boot from ideneb dvd, and when appears "Still waiting..." remove the dvd from internal dvd and put it in a external usb dvd. The boot should continue..i'm sorry for my ugly english. Stay tunned!!

I am also trying to install osx86 on my dv4-1120 with the same error. I was wondering if you had any success yet and if so how you were able to do it. Thanks.

Jon

I really apologize for the delay in replying.

First, my sincere thanks to lukamar and mighel for their replys.

I did not try the above suggestion as I was away. I will let you know soon. As for now, I did not succeed. If you get it installed before me, I request you to kindly let me know so that I could follow your suggestions.

I think, the problem is the chipset kext, ICHx fix don't work for laptop version of ICH9-M (M = mobile).

To verify that, open system profiler and check the error in serial ATA.

Isn't it?

I think that may be the problem there I was able to install it on my DV4-1120us via a thumb drive but the dvd drive isnt working and for anyone else with this model laptop I have gotten everything else except for the video working cause there isnt a kext or anything for the intel 4500 and never will be one as far as I know

How were you able to install by USB thumbdrive?? The only way I can get anywhere is to only use the internal dvd drive and when I get to the install screen and go to disk utility the only thing listed is my internal hard drive. No USB drives can be seen. Ive tried to install from a thumbdrive but it pops up with the error listed above and says waiting on root device. Im using a dv4 by the way

Yo,

I also have an hp dv4. I'm using ideneb 1.4. When I went to install i pressed f8 then -v. It did say unable to take control from BIOS but if you let the disc boot up for a while it eventually gets passed that part. I did not do anything else to get passed that part.

Then I selected voodoo kernel, AppleForce chipset, Nvidia inject .2.0 (whichever one says 256mb), then I selected remove firewire, chose usb fix and battery manager. Selected realtek 1000 internet works.

I chose azalia audio, but that does not work. There is a kext for hp dv5 sound on this forum. Just search hp dv5 sound and its the first one. This may cause a panic on your desktop. Just reboot and leave your deneb dvd in. Sometimes I can even boot with a Kalyway 10.5.2 disk to get to my desktop.

At first usb mouse and webcam were recognized. It will not notice my external. Tried some usb kexts, caused kernel panic when I plugged in my external HD but everything else worked. Tried more kexts but now I have no usb.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hope this helped.

Hi, I have installed Leopard with iDeneb_v1.6_1058_Lite_Edition on my DV4-1225dx with AMD Turion X2 64 Bit Processor and everything works fine. I have selected the newest version of the Vodoo Kernel. I cant recall the name but it was the second in options during setup right after the vanilla kernel. I had to install patches for keyboard and mouse and drivers for wireless and ethernet cards. I am still figuring out how to get my sound working.

Hey scott, your problems are most likely in your BIOS, what you have is whats knowin in the "industry" is a "user friendly BIOS" to get the more advanced settings Contact HP about flashing your BIOS and getting the right "BIOS image" to get the full bios not just a cut down lame version. Its annoying isnt it, HP is sterotyping everyone as a inexperianced user, makes me kinda angry. I have a HP desktop and laptop which both came with a "user friendly BIOS" Brilliant Ehhh? hope this might help you!

same here

i hav hp-dv6 1316tx

i think this problem in tx models

i hav tried iatkos v7 ... ideneb 1.6 lite.... snow universal

but nothing got worked...

ideneb 1.6 installed successfuly but did not worked

hope v soon find sollution
