vm.benjamin
Hello everyone, I am trying to build a budget hackintosh that would preferably cost under $350 dollars. I only have one requirement: the system must be very well supported by Leopard and Linux. Please specify some components that I could use to build my hackintosh. A large hard drive is not required, a 60GB hard drive will do. A fancy graphics card is also not required as the primary function of this system will be programming. Thank you in advance. ToGr82B4Gotn
Ok, This is the rig I like to use, really cheap, and works good on OS X Linux and windows. MB Intel D945GCLF2 about $90 If you want the single core Atom you can save $15 2 GB Ram stick about $50 Any SATA HDD $60 PS and case $40 DVD/CD $40 Runs awesome!!! vm.benjamin
The Intel board looks good except for the maximum amount of memory. I would like this computer to be fairly upgradable. A little more power would be nice too, so probably not an atom processor. Any more ideas? I am willing to go to $400 and most of my budget can go to the motherboard. Thanks for the answers. This should be moved to the Buying Thoughts topic! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151770-a-budget-hackintosh/#findComment-1074004 Share on other sites

Tim Smart
If it runs a vanilla kernel, then I would recommend the BOOT 132 method. But that is just opinion.
