THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP you were right, it was the ACPI thing. oh poop. Only using 1 core... booted into cpus=1 cuz itherwise it was reboot looping. Gotta figure that out too. Hi, I have the same pc. 530sCheapMac
Absolutley. NOTE: There will be a few forks here, depending on your system configuration, and I am not A1 at problem solving, as you can see by my multiple threads here. Here's what worked for me (wrote this myself) Here's a list of things you need, stars denote items needed for the forks, not the main process, so read first, and write down/highlight what you need (I suggest printing this guide out pronto.) G Parted Live CD ( http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading...&a=88741332 ) Burn to CD-R. If you need a tutorial, just PM me. iATKOS 5i (sorry, no links for hacked material; use a torrent) Burn to DVD @ 2-4x Windows Vista Reinstall Disc (came with 540s) Drivers + Utilites Disc same as above * Spare Hard drive REALLY HELPS * Instructions: Take a deep breath. BACK UP ALL VITAL DATA. EVERY KB. You will need to drop the entire contents of an entire HDD. Use the GPartEd Live CD to delete ALL partitions. Pop the iATKOS disc into the drive, and reboot the machine. As soon as you pass the BIOS Splash, start hitting F8. You should then get a prompt with iATKOS Install blah blah blah. Type {cpus=1 -v} no brackets, then hit enter. ( You MUST type this in EVERY time you boot into OS X OR the Install CD) Wait. Click the blue button arrow. Click Continue. Go to the Status Bar, Tools or System (I Forget), then click on Disk Utility. Click on the DISK (not partition) you wish to use. (IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE DISK ENSURE YOU CLICK THE ONE YOU WANT TO USE.) Select Partition, then Select the number of partitions you want to use (at least TWO), Name, resize as wanted. Click Options, then MBR (Master Boot Record), then OK. Remember the names you used, especially the second one. Once everything is done, hit OK. SELECT THE SECOND PARTITON ON THE DISK. Hit Next, ENSURE you hit customize. In the drop downs, select Drivers > ACPI > APIC Driver, System > Intel SATA, Drivers > RemoveThermalCPU.kext something something, and ensure Disable.kext is selected. Hit OK. Hit Install. Walk away. ~30 mins. Shut Down, reboot, hit F2 if you have a second disk, go to BOOT, select the OSX disk as First, reboot Do the F8 and cpus=1, and (hopefully) proceed to setup. Pop in the Windows Vista Reinstall disc. Shut down the machine when you are done. Suffer through Vista setup if you have to reinstall (if you had to delete the vista partiton because you had no spare disc), suffer through setting up, and restoring your {censored}. And you should be done! POST in this thread if you have problems, I have PM issues. Good Luck! awww, mt 1., 2., went away. sorry Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148963-cannot-boot-to-any-leopard-installer/page/2/#findComment-1087494 Share on other sites
Sav
Thanks a lot! I will try as soon as possible. Did you try the new chameleon boot loader to solve the cpus=1 problem? 530sCheapMac
I actually took a brief Hiatus from the entire OSx86 Scene. I am back now, and my next attempt is going to be to try to use the Retail install Method *crosses fingers*...
