SUBnet192
I have tried several versions/releases to install on the D610 with no luck. The paperclip trick does not work for me at all. I tried more recent releases, like XXX_10.5.5 which boots fine, installs, but when it gets to the grey apple screen/spinning gear, I get a "slashed circle" in the middle and it sits there. I've been searching for hours and I can't figure this out. - What does the circle/slash mean? (specific error or generic?) - How do I determine which drivers/devices to install? There's so many! I can figure out video, network and audio, but Powermanagement? Others? Optional Kernels? I just bought the D610 today, I'd really like to get it working (and to learn/understand at the same time). If someone could assist, I'd be very grateful. Thanks, Subnet192 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148463-installing-on-dell-latitude-d610/ Share on other sites
EugenUS
try to boot with -v option, and see where it fails. With that option I could see what's wrong and install needed drivers on my old laptop HP Compaq nx8220. Try to use JaS 10.5.5 I saw it has more drivers, or iPC 10.5.6 it works even better. I just had problems with wireless. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148463-installing-on-dell-latitude-d610/#findComment-1051048 Share on other sites

I just had problems with wireless. I am reinstalling again with basic options. XXX is JaS isn't it? This distro has tons of drivers. Should be able to make it work. I'll try the -v, but when I rebooted earlier, I didn't even get the option to go and enter a parameter, like you get when booting of the DVD. edit: Got it. F8 while booting. It's saying "still waiting for root device"...? Right now i'm using XXX 10.5.6 with the following parameters: Basic files, ICHx driver, ToH 9.0.2 Speedstep. It installs, boots properly then video gets screwy but it looks alive. Tried installing the GMA915 drivers, didnt get better. Anyone? Help! Dyckyj
Is the D600 similar? You could try this guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=130589 It's fairly different (there are huge differences within the D610 line as far as I can tell. Some with Intel video some with ATI, etc... I am trying something off the guide you suggested (thanks by the way). I'll post back results (I added AGPart driver for video). This is very frustrating... I don't know what I'm missing, some people reported it working but they don't give the "recipe" they followed... Man, if I get this right, I'll do an essay on the damn thing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148463-installing-on-dell-latitude-d610/#findComment-1052225 Share on other sites
Dyckyj
Could you list all of your hardware? It may help to find out whats giving you trouble. Also this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=83776&st=0 has some things that you could try. If nothing works I would try to use the whole guide that I posted above. This guy http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=6ncyc7M8G2E got the d610 working with Leo4All 10.5.2. Could be worth a try. Finally got it working yesterday with Kalyway 10.5.1, would have preferred a newer build but that'll do. No idea what makes one build so different from another. I burned 9 different builts and reinstalled about 30 times before I got this one to work. Thanks for taking the time to help. Much appreciated. riddiculous
Finally got it working yesterday with Kalyway 10.5.1, would have preferred a newer build but that'll do. No idea what makes one build so different from another. I burned 9 different builts and reinstalled about 30 times before I got this one to work. Thanks for taking the time to help. Much appreciated. I am trying to get it working on the new IPC 10.5.6 release. Have had positive results. Pros - quartz extreme, support for GM915, Sound, Sleep Mode, Wireless for 3945 Negatives - No onboard keyboard or trackpad functionality, Video not working ON the Leo4Alll - I can get everything working except for the sleep mode and quartz extreme. Any help would be appreciated for those of you who have been successful. ergosteur
Looks like you have a problem with your PS/2 controller. Just install the PS2 kexts from: http://tgwbd.org/darwin/extensions.html or, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72710 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148463-installing-on-dell-latitude-d610/#findComment-1157450 Share on other sites
