Since Flip4Mac unibin is still a no show....

Popwire has released WMV-9 component that lets you finally playback Windows Media 9 audio and video files within QuickTime (WMV, WMA, both without DRM). Although the program costs $50, it's a free download and both import and playback functionalities are fully functional without a license (license affords you export option).

P.S. To register .WMV and .WMA files to context menu (Open With... QuickTime Player) for playback within QuickTime Player, you must run Register Extensions setup program.

If you want to assign wmv to open by default in quicktime you can install a prefpane called 'RCDefaultApp" it lets you assign any filetype to any program etc.. it's also unibin.
